Well here’s the thing: a really good (female) friend of mine in “Bruce Wayne” mode emailed me yesterday suggesting lunch. This is nothing particularly startling as we probably have lunch together about once a month. This friend and I worked together for about 5 years or so a number of years back and we’ve stayed close since. She is 35yo, switched on, and bucket loads of fun. Apart from the lunches we don’t socialise really at all.

At lunch today we chit chatted about this and that when suddenly the conversation took a quite casual but unexpected turn:
“So, Bruce, I have something to ask you” she said.
    “Sure go ahead” I replied.
“Our hockey club has its annual Quiz Night coming up soon…I’d love it if you came along and hosted it for us and ran the quiz – if you’re interested?”. Again, this is not all that unusual as Bruce has done a lot of this sort of stuff in the past and to be honest I was a bit flattered.
“Sure Michelle I would love to I’d be happy to help out!” I exclaimed.
“Ah no” she said “not you – I want Emma to host”.
As I choked on my salt and pepper squid (which was delicious by the way) she went on “…and don’t bother to deny it – this is you isn’t it?” she flashed a photo on her phone at me. I remember this photo being taken maybe about 3 months ago? A gentleman was celebrating his 75th birthday at one of our usual haunts and, as can happen, we sort of got involved with the birthday festivities. When I say “sort of” I really mean “took over” the birthday festivities. This particular snap had me draped across the birthday boy as he kissed my hand in the style of Rudolph Valentino. “He’s my uncle” Michelle went on to say ” and I knew there was something familiar about that person” as she prodded my image with her index finger ” and then it came to me”. ” So what about it then?”

So is this an opportunity or a reason for fear of further discovery?

Nah. Of course I’m going to do it. I am such a show off………. ;)
