A friend on face book posted from YouTube, Jordan Raskopoulos’s video with her comments on the Isreal Folau NRL sacking. Personally I found it amusing and had forgotten about some of the other things professional football players have been reported to have done by the media. If you think this is an anti-football player rant, concentrate on what Jordan says, and if you look up her bio, she enjoyed playing football prior to her transition and came from a sporting family.

I strongly suggest no one directly adds enhancements to Jordan’s comments in this forum so we can keep it alive for a while, and not have it removed as inappropriate for this website. Let’s not open Pandora’s Box to long blogs on others peoples Homophobia and Trans-phobia, a simple, agree, disagree or interesting, may be the best way to reply and make your feeling known.

Sorry Rosemary; I do appreciate your good intent but that presentation by Jordan Raskopoulos as submitted here, cannot get by with a simple like/don’t like or agree/disagree.

Jordan’s verbal presentation is as full of hate speech as was Israel Foulau’s. The difference is that Jordan is free to blast away with her generalised and all embracing ‘fuck wit’ narrative because she is contracted only to herself on her own terms. Foulau was not free and therefore breached the terms of his contract which he freely signed with Rugby Australia.

At stake here is our country’s ability, willingness and freedom to listen to each other and dialogue respectfully.

The Jordan Raskopoulos response, like all those other extreme responses supporting the hate speech of Foulau (See Alan Jones, Miranda Devine, the self-appointed Australian Christian Lobby (ACL) et al), is to light a violent fire we just do not need. As trans gender and ‘queer’ gender people of all kind we all need to keep our heads and disallow the idea that extreme hate speakers on either side of this issue speak in our name. They do not. Certainly for me as a Catholic Christian Tgirl, the ACL does not speak for me, nor anyone in my faith community, any more than does Israel Foulau. Likewise, as a Tgirl, Jordan does not speak for me either.

We need to speak our own voices respectfully we f ever we’re to get through this latest reactionary assault without casualties.

I think any further posts on this topic run a risk of escalating a debate which is already getting more than enough coverage in the mainstream media and is not needed here in TGR.

I ask that people do not add any further comments.

    Thanks
