  • makeup – is there much difference between brands?

Obviously there are makeup brands like maybelline, covergirl, revlon etc and they are available everywhere.
And I know there are better quality brand makeup also available too but I was wondering for general wear, is there really much of a difference in things like the pressed powder, foundation or concealer between the “average” name brand and the more expensive ones? is it a matter of personal preference?
If there is a difference, what would that be?

Also, if down the line I pluck up the courage to start going out in daytime in the warmer weather, how badly can makeup run in hot weather and what can be done to prevent that? (other than not going out in really hot weather or move somewhere cooler I guess). Does the more expensive makeup not get affected as much?

I’ve tried a whole range of foundations, from the super expensive Chanel versions through to Maybelline and Covergirl. Absolutely the best I’ve found is Revlon Colorstay. It stays on during perspiration events and has good coverage. It also ‘ages’ well and stays true to its initial colour.

As for the more expensive brands, yes there is a difference. Different pigments and base ingredients. Laura Mercer and Bobbi Brown are good in the mid to high range. May swear by Mac but I found it a bit heavy for day to day, but that coverage may suit your lifestyle.

Now I am only a new comer to wearing makeup but I have been able to take advantage of some training that I have had
the cost of make up does reflect on its quality and of course the advertising campaign behind the company.
Personally I dont use anything other that Artistry or E.funkhouser.
What ever you chose the main thin you need to look at is the quality and type of foundation, a good foundation properly selected for your skin and applied correctly will ensure your makeup will stay and look great
Alos when it comes to colour, less is better .I have a range of 3 colours that I use, one of a red hue, One of blue and a nuetral tone. By mixing and matching these I get a good balance between my eyes, face and lips.
If you are game many stores have ladies at the beauty spots that will do your face for you. Northlakes as a great one. I just havent been game to ge and get my face done there yet.
