Minoxidil & Finasteride

I’m finally booked in to have a hair transplant procedure done in September. I’m so excited as I have been waiting and saving for years to have this done.
The surgeon has also prescribed Minoxidil (oral) and Finasteride as he said these will help a lot to strengthen the hair I have and maybe even help some grow back. He showed me some before and after pics of men who had taken only Minoxidil and the results were actually quite surprising!
He did warn me though that it is possible that I may see some facial hair returning, and this has me very worried as it has taken a lot of time and money (and pain!) to remove facial hair. At the moment my top and bottom lip have vellus hair growing and I still get a few white thick hairs along my jaw that I just pluck. But it would be devastating to see thick dark hair return. So as yet I haven’t started taking the medications until I know more.
<font color=”rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)” face=”inherit”>I have been on HRT (Progynova 6mg daily) for 9 years, and it has been nearly 7 years since I had SRS. My testosterone levels are lower than a cis woman’s and I presume my DHT levels would be </font>negligible<font color=”#ba0000″>. I first </font><font color=”#ba0000″>noticed androgenic alopecia about 7 years before commencing HRT. Since commencing HRT the rate of hair loss has greatly reduced, but I never regrew what I did lose, hence the need for transplants. </font>
So I’m really interested to know of other trans women’s experience of taking Minoxidil and Finasteride. The benefits as well as the unwanted effects. Was there any appreciable hair growth on the scalp, or even eyelashes and eyebrows? Have you had hair start to grow in places where you don’t want it? Any other side effects such as rashes etc?
