I have always worked at keeping my eyebrows groomed. As I get older they seem to have a desire to emulate Bart Cummings.

So I constantly trim and pluck. Recently I saw this clip on ‘eyebrow wigs’ and while initially I was a tad, ‘What for’? But then, considering how much attention we pay to padding and cinching and artificially altering I thought, ‘why not’? The current fashions for slightly heavier eyebrows can be quite attractive in my humble opinion.

Hi Clare, I have seen a few ads on tele for eyebrow enhancing cosmetic products to allow you to style your eyebrows for this fashion. Being the curious sort during my weekly visit to the local shopping centre today, I conducted a discrete visual survey of eyebrows, and enhanced eyebrows seem to be mainly worn by the younger and fashionable dressed women. As to the Bart brow bushes, only a couple of older gents offered this as their appearance in public. I myself are heading towards the brow bushes as the years pass me by, haircuts now include a brow trim, with a bit of a good old fashion work out with the tweezers in front of the mirror at regular intervals to maintain a more femme appearance. Hi Rosemary, thanks for replying. I purchased a set of electronic hair clippers that came with a set of adjustable guides, for different hair length obviously. I found I can use these to trim my eyebrows so I can avoid the Barts. Of course I have the occasional pluck as well.

Just a thought, have we created a new word? “I had a Bart at the hairdressers” ;)

    Hi,
Having just had a holiday in the UK I can confirm that big eyebrows are all the rage. The girls must spend ages drawing them on! As for my own, I received a grooming kit for my birthday last year and use the length guide to keep them from getting too long and pluck the big grey ones. I would get the John Howard effect otherwise!

Like Phillippa I live in dread of the John Howard’s, these grey things seem to grow from my brows like tentacles. I have found that there is a handy brow shaper which started life as a beard trimmer but is much more useful now. Also brow mascara, which is a coloured glue like substance which when applied allows you to shape the brows a little more. Having said that plucking still takes place but because of my circumstances must be done slowly and discreetly

    It can always get worse

But in my own case hair has always been either something to lust after, long flowing tresses or a phobia, as in the photo (above URL) or elsewhere on the body. Woman ,cis-women, have been known to complain about some aspects of woman hood but in this case I am sure they have it easy.
