Guest24/08/2009 at 10:53 pmThis is not scientific fact but I know that another girl and myself went from glucose intolerant to diabetic not long after starting HRT. We both suspect there is some sort of connection. Obviously keeping your weight down and getting below the glucose intolerant point will help. I would recommend a low GI diet myself….and that’s for everone who has any blood sugar issue at all.
Take care

Guest25/08/2009 at 12:36 amHi ,
Ive found it unusual if a doctor does know about diabetes and hormones .As I said I found our about it via a small article in a medical digest from a well known US university, googled th topic and found a lot of articles re the link
My endo knew about it ,BUT at first said these articles were written by people from drug companies selling T .I quoted an article in ANdrology magazine – seemingly the gospel of endos to him then I had agreement on the topic … Seems to be some sort of secrecy classification on this with doctors ! One of th docs who ‘knew nothing’ is a professor of medicine at one of our major unis who used their research assistants to do a literature search on it and then came up with all manner of articles on it .
I agree with Georgette and others about not trusting all that doctors profess to know… Tis sad but
Hugs

Guest12/05/2014 at 5:44 pmFrom my own experience, previously a Type II diabetic, I’d say that the biggest risk is in continuing the incorrect diet that gave you ‘metabolic syndrome’ / Insulin insensitivity in the first place 1
Put bluntly (sorry girls, my male mine takes over here) Doctors, governments and food factories have been giving us totally wrong info for nearly a hundred years.
Or lying.- take you pick.Go and do your own research. Even diabetic ‘educators’ get it wrong… You don’t need carbohydrates, but you do need moderate protein…and lots of good FAT. Including saturated fats such as butter. Or coconut oil. Olive is great for salads… Forget the rest, especially even the hint of a trans-fat.
I’ve lost a heap of weight, dropped 22cm on the waist, around 25+ kg of FAT, feel so much better, more energy and clearer thinking with less background depression (long-term for me)My HbAic (blood ‘sugar’) dropped from over 12… down to 5.6 in a matter of months. My blood pressure was successfully ‘moderated’ by huge amounts of (Himalayan pink.mineral) SALT, from taking BP meds to being taken off everything.
Most of all, I don’t miss bread, fruit, wine , potatoes or fizzy drinks – diet of sugar – and indulge myself with cream in my coffee. (got less sugar/carbs then skim milk)
Suggested reading: The Rosedale diet by Dr Ron Rosedale.Bottom line is… you can halt Diabetes Type 2 despite what the drug companies would tell you, and losing the excess fat is SO necessary before you go onto estrogen…. which will put some shape onto your hips & bottom. The extra fat will end up around your middle, the worst possible place.
