    Hi again,

As I move into my “declining years”, as I got out of the shower each night, I thought I could see where I have developed sufficient fat on my “pecs” that enables me to fill an A cup Bra.

Now there’s no such thing as an 18 A, or B for that matter, in mass produced bras. But via the wonderful Judy at Lady Bird Lingerie in Gympie Qld I was able to obtaina 16A bra and used an extender to take it out to an 18

And YAY, I fill that A cup quite nicely ta very much!!

Here I hasten to add, I only wear it during my “nocturnal cross dressing” nights under my male pj’s. When “properly” dressed as Caty, of course, breast forms take me out to a “normal 18C”

But…. it still feels great to have your “natural flesh” encased in a nice lacy pink bra, especially with matching colour knickers anda nice cami instead of the usual ‘orrible cotton male singlet.

    Any “further correspondence”?

I only have one suggestion Caty from an otherwise excellent post: gather up all your “‘orrible male singlets” and burn the lot.

    Ah Emma,

“That it were ever thus”, but please refer to my post in response to your excellent “getting out” posts.

IE “Questions would be asked in the House”. (if only ‘cos my beloved is very much a “plain Jane” with lingerie and I’m the exact opposite!

    ‘MITIGATING CIRCUMSTANCES”.

We have corresponded in the past about my wine trip to the Clare Valley in your part of the world where underneath my “male drab”, I wore panties, bra and camisole for most of the time and since I’m leaving for TF next week, most times during that trip, (especially in Katoomba), there wont be any male “clobber” in sight, (under or over).

The only exception is when, whilst away, I seek treatment for my “creaky old back”. Yes I know most health professionals have “seen it all”, and I “may never pass that way again”, (especially that Sydney madhouse), but in the scheme of things, its best to present in an “Unburned Chesty Bond”.

Thanks for another of your interesting and imagination teasing posts. Always a must read. You raise a subject of immediate relevance to me in respect to bra / breastforms sizes. I decided to drop a breastform size to a number 6 which I assume approximated a C Cup. I purchased a Fayreform 16C bra and the combination fits very well; and with the more modest projection of the size 6 forms achieving the desired result. The exception to this was that the 16C band width was too tight for comfort requiring a bra extender. So when I ordered new bras recently I ordered an 18C assuming that the cup size would be the same. Wrong! I need to fill these bras with a size 7 breastform or even larger. The mysteries of cup size vs band width continue for me. Clearly I need to avail myself of the bra fitting lecture that Adrian talked about recently. As a keen observer however not as a model. I would leave that experience for our younger and more courageous members.
    Regards

    Marian,
I too tried a number of sizes of bras with my forms but after not getting what I was after on line I threw caution to the wind and went to a Bras n things store. I was asked how could they help and I said I needed some new bras. I went into the fitting room took off my top and the girl assistant took my basic measurements and came back with a couple of options. These I tried with her checking for exact size and then I agreed on which I preferred ie black lace, red lace and 2 plain black and 2 plain skin colour. It went so easily with no hesitation by the girl in helping me. I left feeling like I was like any other woman going about their business of being fitted for bras. I certainly will not be buying these on line again and actually look forward to doing the same when my current batch need replacement…….mmmm….now that I think of it maybe next week! :)

Thanks for your advice Jane. I agree with you that it is the only practical way to ensure correct fit and save time and money. And I admire your courage as obviously you go to the store dressed as the lady you are and as your profile pictures clearly attest to. If you do go to a specialty store in male mode you would have to be taking your forms with you in any event to ensure they evenly and effectively fill out the cups. Same amount of courage required: at least from my perspective. In the current absence of said courage the bra fitting demonstration planned for Transformal is a must attend; and in the interim I applaud girls like you who just go out and do it and get on with the life of the Woman you have chosen to be. Thanks again for your post and response to me. Hugs Marian

Judging by the number of people who will proudly tell you they have a A/B/C cup as if this means something significant, there is a widespread ignorance of bra cup sizing. And this isn’t just confined to the transgender community.

It actually isn’t a mystery – it is just counter intuitive. We all just assume that the cup size is the same as breast volume. Well it just isn’t. Why I don’t know but the cup size reflects the difference in over bust and under bust (strap) measurements.

The cup size on its own doesn’t tell you what the volume of the cup is.
Nor can you assume that all B cups have the same shape. If they did they would be uncomfortable when fitted to real breasts (the majority of the bra market).

The maths of all this is beyond me, but as an approximation I understand that a 12C, 14B and 16A bra will contain roughly the same volume. If a 14B is roughly the right volume but is too tight round the strap then going to a 16A will be better.

If you are plonking relatively malleable and unfeeling silicone into the bra then this is probably all you need to know.

If you have the home-grown item then a couple of measurements will not necessarily lead you to a bra that is the right shape for your breasts or supports them properly. I know the on-line shops would like you to think otherwise, but you do really have to have a bra fitting from someone skilled in the art.

So the next time someone tells you they are a “B” cup then do them a favour and explain to them how meaningless this is.

Hi everyone (especially the above “respondents”.

At the risk of being permanently banned from this wonderful website for (yet another) very bad pun, I’ll have a “boob each way” :P on this subject.

1/. Yes I have had the very “femme” experience of a bra fitting , (all Vic TGR folk should try to get to Lisa’s Lacies in Seaford at some time or other), and loved it. And yes, the fitter was quite professional and in fact (1) it was her suggestion I have one. It fact, (2) (look out here comes another one :P ), it was quite “titivating”.

2/. But, equally, via the likes of the lovely ladies at Velvet Jayne in Sydney and the one and only Judy at Lady Bird Lingerie in Gympie Qld, mail order has also been very satisfactory for me.

But then since I rely on “silicone”, cup size is not a problem, just have to get the bra band correct.
In my younger years I was a 16 and I only used B cup (bird seed in stocking feet) forms. Eventually I moved up to an 18C and a good TGR friend has taken to calling me “the busty matron”. ( A compliment no less!)

Last but not least is to invest in good quality bras and as I’ve often posted here, Fayreform Coral bras are so comfy!!!

    Happy bra shopping

Oh! pecs’ I thought it was damn gravity. When I bend over to dry my left over pieces of feet, the boobies droop and flop around like becalmed Ragamuffin’s sails on a lazy day on Sydney Harbour. Now I know.
