Hi not sure where to put this post but I would like to ask this question. Has anyone ever been refused entry to a night club, I know this might be an odd question but just wanted to know, I know that it would be classed as desecration but have they just made it due to some other reason. I ask this cause I class myself as a trans gender person and I have many friends girls and boys who want me to go out to regular night clubs and places with them. The thing that pointed me to this question was a comment my friend made on facebook asking a night club why you can’t wear shorts inside they replied with the message shorts are fine only for girls not boys. So this got me thinking about normal night clubs and how you have gone getting in has anyone said your not aloud to use the Lady’s Toilet this goes for shopping centers too. Its just a question I ask because im scared of being decimated against I do relies they can’t do this but in the eye of the law until I get the whole opp im not technically female. This has never happened to me as im not rely a clubbing girl but I have many friends and once the hormones take more effect I will be living and loving every day as my true self xo

I’ve never had a problem in shopping centres. If you are presenting femme enough, and not lingering in a creepy sort of way (I know none of us would ever do that!), things should be fine.

As for clubs, I don’t go to straight clubs at all. I’ve never had a problem in a gay club. EXCEPT I was in Paris once, and went en femme to explore the Champs Elysées with my wife. The big gay nightclub on the street at the time was called QUEEN. The girl on the door wouldn’t let us in because we were girls! Even me exhorting her in my non-existent french (“Oh madame! Oh Madame!”) didn’t work.

I used to go and see bands quite a lot en femme, and I never had a problem. Maybe it was the sort of bands that I like (arty, alternative stuff), but everyone was fine with it.

    Best,

    Simone.

I’ve never had issues with night clubs mostly because I very rarely go to them, I don’t understand them but that’s another topic.. any who..
Personally I find it comes down to how well you pass in the eyes of others, which really is discrimination but too subtle and covert to be able to say anything.
The better you blend in 1) less people notice you and 2) the less people will be unjustifiably horrified.
I noticed early in to HRT that most people just didn’t look at me or talk to me and just did their job (which I admit I didn’t look too great) but now that I’m passing better people talk to me, it’s purely based on how I look, they don’t know I’m still pre-op so that side of it doesn’t matter. IF you blend in you blend in. A lot of people can be harsh.

I’m unemployed and while standing in the line at teh lcoal DSS I noticed how 90% of the people in the line or whole building were generally unattractive (other than me of course lol _>” title=”>_>” class=”bbcode_smiley” />), ok maybe some have other reasons they’re unemployed but I’d say generally people are also hired on looks and presentation. This is something that we all no doubt think is big big BS but it’s just the way the world is, especially for women.
Women get away with shorts because they make them look good, guys just make them look like casual wear.. simple as that.imo.

Hi thanks for all the advice yea I think I would be ok as I look fairly girly but very tall 6 foot one thing that lets me down a bit but hopefully I will never have to deal with a problem, I was a bit worried as my friends always ask me to go to clubs with them but the only clubs I have ever been to are gay clubs, Every day Im getting more conferdent but still there is a long way for me to go Im waiting for the HRT to take more effect first and I still need to get electrolysis on my face Ive had heaps of laser but their seems to be a lot on my upper lip and chin still but If I plan to let it grow for a few days and then shave it the night I go out seems to be effected but for me to transition for every day life it needs to be all gone and last thing my voice does need fixing its manly ok but still deep. Getting back to the point I think I should be ok hopefully once my drivers Lic says Chelsea on it they will think twice in refusing me. xo

I’ve never been refused anywhere except for ‘Love and Rockets’ (a strip club in Brissy)… After the doorman let in everyone else (girls and boys) in my group and refused me entry, I took his number and made a complaint. The manager of the club invited me back for a personal experience, and there was no sign of the doorman again.. ;-)

Advice: if you ever get refused, ask why, get witnesses, and take the guard’s number, record the time and date and make a complaint.

I read in the Adelaide Sunday paper a week or so ago about two CDs who were refused entry to one of Adelaide’s clubs. Apparently they were relative regulars there for a while, went there dressed one night and were refused entry. No real reason given either. It only appeared once, so there has been no follow up.

That would be Boho in Unley. Big shame, I have often thought about going there as they have a very nice absinthe bar upstairs, but after that disgusting treatment – no thanks. The guy that owns that place owns quite a few other pubs too.
