I am considering the purchase of one of these ( advertised at Myer and Shaver shop). Has anyone had experience of using one? they claim to use LHE (light, heat, energy) technology, what is this? :)

Hi Toni, i recently bought a NoNo hair removal system and basically what it does is heats up a very thin blade mounted in a ceramic head piece whichs drops down from the body of the unit as you roll it over the area you are applying it to and as the blade passes over the hair it singes the end of the hair. After you have done a section you have a pad which consists of a fine piece of for want of a better description wet and dry type sand paper, similar to the paper used for cutting back paint work on motor vehicles, i haven’t had much success with the pad and usually run the razor over afterwards to remove the stubble that has been left from the treatment. All the light does is tell you that the unit is operating properly (green light) and when the blade in the unit burns out it turns into a red light which means you need to replace the head unit which is a simple pullout and push the new piece into place.

i bought mine on ebay and only paid about $95 for it which is much better than the asking price. As far as does it work, the jury is still out on that but i’ve only had it a few weeks but in that time it seems to have slowed regrowth but in saying that i think it needs more time to work effectively.

At this point i can’t in all honesty endorse it as an effective hair removal system, this is just from my personal experience with it over the past 3 weeks although i do hope it does what it’s claimed to do … time will tell.

Maybe consider getting one of these bad boys: http://www.amazon.com/Emjoi-AP-18-Emagine-Opposed-Epilator/dp/B001GS6OB4

I agree with Jess that Epilady are pretty good. Once the hairs have been ripped out a few times they’ll grow back only as very fine hairs, and epilation is basically painless from that point on.

I too looked at purchasing the ‘No No Hair’ but decided against it after reading reviews on the device. No one seemed to give it many ticks.
I Use a Braun Silk-epil on my chest arms and legs. If I have a hot shower or bath and epilate straight away while the skin is still hot I seem to get a better result than if I do it cold. If the pain factor is a problem you could try one of those skin deadening creams from the chemist. I now find I have very little regrowth on my chest, neck and lower legs and the same is happening on my arms. It is best done the day before you want to ‘look your best’ as it can leave a red spot or rash where the hair has been pulled out. The results for me are good and I am having to do it less often as the hair regrowth is getting finer.
For my face I am considering getting an eGlide from http://www.globalshop.com.au/Product/290/38/eGlide as an alternative to IPL or electrolysis .I would be interested in comments from other girls who have experience with the eGlide on any part of their body

I bought one of these from Myers a couple of years ago, replaced 6 hot blades, no visible effect after many months , Myers not interested in refund as not designed for coarse male hair, despite their adds to the contrary, too many difficulties to pursue it further, I recall posting on the subject at the time, any one want a freebie, needs new blades, let me know
    cheers
    Terri
ps was actually 3 years ago, I’m sure it was never painful, just a bit smelly from the burnt hair
