Patch residue
Posted by Anonymous on 22/11/2013 at 2:19 amHi all does anybody have any tips regarding removing that annoying sticky residue that remains after a patch is removed ? I swear I will be able to play checkers on my behind before too long, I’ve tried loofas but that just irritates the area I even changed to a smaller patch ie estrodot, better but still leaves residue of the glue im guessing .
Thanks Scylla xxxAnonymous replied 6 years, 10 months ago 5 Members · 9 Replies -

Hi Scylla
I suffered too until I found a product called “Remove” by smith and nephew.
Described as universal adhesive remover wipes ,gently removes tapes and adhesives, reduces risk of irritation and skin stripping, contains aloe. I found it works a treat. Not all chemists carry it so you may have to ask around or get them to order it in. I get mine at Wals Pharmacy Warilla. The same place I get my patches. Again not all chemists carry a stock of those. We must be a minority! -

Guest26/11/2013 at 4:08 amHave you tried an oil base such as olive oil or sorbolene.
It may be an oil based adhesive and oils are non-polar and so require an non-polar solvent.
water is polar and oils are nonpolar that is why they will not mix.
Anyhow try it and post the results or what you find effective.

Until my E implant last year I also had to deal with that problem of patch residues . i found by far the best agent to remove them was a cotton bud dipped in Kerosene yes kerosene!! Its not harmful to the skin and as a non polar solvent it works very well on the non polar adhesives used on patches.
Have a shower soon afterwards using some nice scented body wash and no residual odours will remain

Patches? residue? I never really bothered as I was more concerned with skin irritations which caused discontinued usage. I wore the residue like a badge of honour. Have ben on pills for six months, but that’s another story.

Deleted User13/03/2018 at 10:40 amSorry for continuing an old thread with a slightly off-topic question, but I’m interested in knowing how big the patches get as the dose goes up. Does the patch actually get to fill the packet?
I just doubled the dose and the patch size doubled (yes I’m on the lower end). Does the size keep doubling with the dose increase?
Angela.

I think you’ll find on the instructions, ‘Do not double up on patches’ My guess is double patches does not necessarily mean a double dose. Good luck.

Guest13/03/2018 at 11:17 pmHi Angela Jade
My prescription is for 100 and 25 patches.
The 25 is about a third the area of the 100.
I have never had any trouble with them marking clothing!
Hugs
Michelle
