TgR Wall Forums Transgender Radio Our Website Reputations adjusted

It’s now 18 months since the tgR reputation system was redesigned to fit within the capabilities of the components on the (then) new website.

The TgR profile reputation provides an indication of how positive a role you take on the web site. Unfortunately many members continue to take only a passive interest in the site – and only 25% of the membership are interacting with other members in the forums, chat or messaging. It is that valuable 25% that the reputation system seeks to encourage – because without their involvement the site would become static and die.

Unfortunately the reputation weighting I arbitrarily selected turned out to not be particularly well balanced. Having set reputation bands from 0 to 100 I found that barely 19% of members achieved a reputation over 50. A few members rose to the stratospheric heights of reputation ( including myself) but the majority languished in the land of thongs and flatties.

I’ve exported all the current reputation data to a spreadsheet and modeled the effect of changing the points assigned to varying activities. As a result I can propose a change where 42% of members get a reputation over 50 – which I think better reflects the contribution being made. When I finish updating the reputation points 93 members will find they have moved up the scale – and only 4 will slide backwards.

The 10 reputation bands remain unchanged as shown below:

The way you can earn reputation point credits is also unchanged, I have just changed the points assigned in the following ways:

    In the forums
15 points when you start a new forum topic (limit one credit per day, expires after 3 months)
5 points when you post a reply to a topic on the forums (limit one credit per day, expires after 3 months)
15 points if someone else likes one of your posts (no limit, expires after 6 months)

    In private messaging
5 points when you reply to a private message sent to you through the site (limit one credit per day, expires after 3 months)

    In the chat

5 points when you talk with someone in a private chat (Instant messaging) (limit one credit per day, expires after 3 months)

    In the profile photo albums

15 points if someone else likes a photo you have put in your album (limit one credit per day, expires after 3 months)

Note that all reputation points expire after a time so if you don’t take an active role on the site your reputation will gradually sink over time to zero.
If you don’t log into TgR for 30 days then your reputation will also permanently be reduced by 10 points.

The adjustment to reputations will be made over the next couple of days.

Being pretty well programme or softeware literate I am in awe of anyone who can set up or correlate statistics to show how a system is working.
Just a thought, does adding photos count as a contribution?

Adding photos that people like counts…same as post in the forum people like. I try to encourage quality as most members have plenty of pictures!

Sorry to cause more work but the photos must be verified self photos. Not a photo of some object they like.

Its always nice to have some new shoes – even if the heels are astronomically high – fashion before function – always *smiles*

PS Thanks Adrian – it seems for a while there the more posts I did the lower down the quality of my shoe collection became – but NOT any MORE *smiles*
