  • Russia says drivers must not have ‘sex disorders’

Russia has listed transsexual and transgender people among those who will no longer qualify for driving licences.

Fetishism, exhibitionism and voyeurism are also included as “mental disorders” now barring people from driving.

The government says it is tightening medical controls for drivers because Russia has too many road accidents.

I can see a positive for the Trans people… I’ve spent hours watching Russian dash cam videos on YouTube (need to watch something while epliating). With the accident rate on their roads, it seems safer not to drive! :S

Other than that, Victoria may be a Nanny State but thankfully it isn’t Russia!

Just glad I don’t live there. Sadly Russia is not the only place that actively represses transgender people. Will definitely remove Putin from my Christmas card list.

As if Russia wasn’t already crazy. Now they can add oppressive to the list. Makes me happy that there are couples out there like this that screw with the government anyway http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/identical-bride-groom-both-wear-4085627

I read an article a few days ago where the Russian Minister responsible states that they are not banning trans people from driving but people with “mental disorders”. I still find this a bit disturbing, who defines what is a “mental disorder”?It is not so long ago that being gender or sex diverse in this country was viewed as a disorder.

I wonder if the Russians are doing a bit of spin doctoring?
