I am very new to expressing my fem side so I know very little. I have purchased a pair of us 11 4″ mary Jane court shoes (beartiful) they are a little tight should have been 11.5 or 12 although I think 12 might be a little big. My question what is the australian womens equivilent size should I look for?

good on you … you’ll never look back.

here is a site that does all the converting for you:

    http://www.onlineconversion.com/clothing_shoes_womens.htm

but like shoes for men and kids, all brands vary slightly from different style to different style. one of the main factors influencing size is the shoe last from which the style of shoe is made from:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last

so a shoe by one brand may differ in size from another shoe from that brand because the basic last is slightly different to accommodate the style of the particular shoe – and open toe pump will have a different last from a mule sandal.

i like to think that most brands like to try and keep sizing within their range consist – nothing like keeping the customer satisfied, but you do have to be careful. i guess online shopping has the greatest risk for this, unless you know a shop that stock an item you want to buy online so you can try on one or two pairs of a particular brand and from then on you’ll have a rough idea of what to expect online.

oops, moderator … i hope i haven’t drifted into that nasty grey netherworld of off topic-dom.

    … happy shopping!

Hi gwendolyne, Virginia has got it right, however a very basic guide is Aus women go up 2 sizes from Aus mens, add another 2 sizes for US women, ie. size 12 Aus men = size 14 Aus women = size 16 US women = 47 european, which are usually a narrow fit
a good piece of advice from one of the online shops is to measure a good fitting pair of shoes, doesn’t matter if the’re boy or girl , get the inside length & the outside width at the widest part, most sites, including ebay give these sizes, usually in centimeters
    happy shopping
