Guest28/07/2014 at 12:04 amI had an encounter with a rude woman at Myer highpoint in Melbourne, but all other shop staff have been great. I agree

Hi.
I have not found any shops that won’t sell me anything. Mind you I have got a few curious looks. But that’s about it.
There no excuse for rudeness or not seeling to anyone just because they don’t like your how you look. After all a sale is a sale and that’s what the sale people are there to do. -
The only time I was not served was in Paris. I asked for some extra long stockings and the lady asked Is it for you. I replied. Yes. She said Leave. And pointed to the door. Otherwise never a problem. A rivers lady said !”I really like that skirt”. ” you will really like it”. I replied. I think it has a nice shape. A lady in a town dress shop. After watching me look thru the racks. Said as I held the dress up. “try it on, use the end one if u like, ITS. OK”. A elderly gent at an op shop didn’t bat an eye after I emerged from the fitting room and bought a skirt,

I’ve had almost 100% positive reactions from shop assistants when asking for help. The one exception was in a charity shop as I looked for a denim skirt. An elderly volunteer told me I was in the ladies section and the men’s room was through that door. I thanked her and said I might look there later. When I’d chosen the skirt I wanted and went to pay she looked at me as though I was something the cat had dragged in.
Never mind I never went back there and one in over a hundred isn’t too hard to handle. -

Guest30/07/2014 at 1:28 amThankfully I’ve never had a problem shopping which I usually do femme.
If it did occur, I wouldn’t stop shopping in Myer, or any store, because of one bad experience. Why punish myself because of a sales assistant. Whether I was sufficiently annoyed to provide some advice on Sales 101 to the SA or to their manager is another matter.

Just to clarify, I said that I have NOT had a problem shopping at Myer nor for that matter anywhere else.

Once I got over that silly fear of shopping for femme stuff when in male mode I found it pretty easy and so far have not had any negative experiences.
My most recent foray, again in male mode, was to a new hairdresser, one neither my wife nor I had been into before. We went together and when we walked into the hairdressing salon I said to the lady at the counter, the manager as it turned out, “I’m transgendered so can you do anything to make this hair look in any way feminine?” She was quite happy, checked her book and said “Can you come back in an hour and a half?” We then said my wife would like to get hers done too so she said “We’ll put you in side-by-side.” Ninety minutes later we arrived and from then on we were treated with the utmost respect and courtesy. The manager did my hair and during the two hours there she asked a lot of respectful and valid questions, showed significant empathy and finished off with some great instruction on how to style my hair myself, including how to make it look “more boy-like, if you have a need to.” It was a wonderful experience and when I left I had the world’s biggest smile.
