Spring / summer dresses
Posted by Anonymous on 25/09/2012 at 1:34 pmOoh I love summer! Especially those gaudy bright dresses
Please share your finds.. here’s a few that I’m going to try in-store soon. They usually only go up to 14, but I’m 16 so maybe only the bodycon will fit? Let’s see what happens..

Isn’t it just!
Perhaps I could repeat some oft given advice – as it does pertain very much to a choice of a summer dress.
Many of us have a physical bone structure with some inherent “challenges”. Those of us who were born male have heavy shoulders and lack hips.
We can modify the shape slightly by diet and exercise, but it pays to choose clothes that don’t accentuate our bone structure.Fitting off-the shoulder dresses like the second one you posted above tend to play into both problem areas – nothing hides or decorates the shoulders, and the bottom half is somewhat revealing of hip shape.
So my recommendation is to head for the fuller skirt (like the Portmans dress above) – when ever we are lucky enough to find them in fashion that is. And to look for dresses with some “shoulder bone camouflage”.
The best look in my opinion is a 1/4 length sleeve – but at the least a nice wide shoulder strap (which also doubles as a camouflage for the bra strap!)Of course, if you were born with the bones of a Portman’s model then you can ignore all this well-meaning advice and buy up everything in the shop!!!

Guest26/09/2012 at 5:20 amThanks for the tips Amanda! That all makes perfect sense
So I went into Broadway today and got the Baja and Palazzo.. both shop assistants were very cool about it even though I was presenting as a male at the time.
‘Sunday Best’ is still in the warehouse and will not be on the rack until next week. I almost LOLed as the girl maintained her composure about the whole CD thing but seemed nonplussed that I’d be on the cutting edge of their next season.
Ditto with ‘Cosmo’, they will have it in a few days.
Palazzo looks difficult at first glance but is actually very open and flowy, the ribbon at the back can be undone to allow it to take a squarish shape that is more flattering.
With regard to your points I wonder if there are any alterations that can be done to a non-friendly dress to make it a bit better for camo?

Guest09/10/2012 at 5:07 amI’ve found a diamond in the rough. You all owe it to yourselves to check it out when you get a chance!
They are called ‘Envy U Clothing’, and have a website http://envyuclothing.com.au/
However the site does not do them justice. They have loads of great stuff, unlike most outlet stores that have rows of boring crap. The prices are great too..
Like this dress for $45
and semi-transparent top for $35
