It’s a brilliant, honest and human article. I would love to learn more about this person. If I had known what I know about myself now 40 years ago I might well have tried to follow the same kind of course (although not the complete sex change and I don’t know that I would ever have been beautiful enough to be a model), but things were different then…. I will be googling more. I do sometimes think we could be accused of creating caricatures of women, which would clearly be hard to reconcile for some feminists, but so, at its worst, does the fashion industry. It’s simple for us but complicated in the context of political correctness – real and true, but with its faults. We are all human, all imperfect. As long as we’re kind and try not to hurt anyone, what more can be expected of people? We need to be at peace with ourselves before we can handle the noise, and she obviously has a lot of that to deal with in her position, and I admire her amazing courage and commitment.
