Hi all im sure I’ve seen a post on this topic but can’t seem to locate it. My question is due to the hot weather a swim would be devine, some thing I have avoided of late as im kinda not here nor there yet. I can’t just throw on a pair of boardshorts and go for a dip as breasts/nipples are quite obvious and I don’t feel comfortable in a bikini mainly due to the presence of some unwanted extra bits plus I feel I can do more regarding my body shape “personal preference” so topless is out, a tshirt looks like a wet tshirt entrant as does a rash vest. I’m ok with a bikini top, question is do they make a swim gaff or is there a way to achive a suitable effect ? My guess ladies boardies and a top its a tough one as you don’t have the clothing options to flatter/hide your shape.
    Any suggestions Scylla xxx

    Hi Scylla,

Check out the retro fashion swimwear at http://www.inspiredinsanity.com.au
I have a black one-piece from that range. It covers a multitude of sins and it looks great too!!

    Best,

    Simone.

Ditto with regard to the one piece.

    Of course it depends somewhat
    a) on your age (under 30 by all means expose more of that flawless skin)
    b) your body shape (bikini bottoms do look good if you have a nice butt, wide hips and a slender waist)
    c) what attention you are trying to attract on the beach (but be honest about the talents of your competition on the looking gorgeous front)

But I suspect for most of us we are happier in a one piece and everything stays happily in place in the surf.

Hint: try to get a design that flatters a less than hourglass figure – i.e. avoid floral prints – and look for a pattern that hides the waste line.

Um ok no im not under 30, and possibly don’t have the ideal hourglass figure, thanks for the reality check ! lol hence my boardshort idea. I certainly don’t want undue attention, but its kinda hard as although i am technically still a man ,and last time I checked men don’t get arrested for exposing their boobs .Ok I’m no prize but my natural hair is halfway down my back I’m plucked cleaner than a christmas turkey, long painted nails, breasts ect ect id kinda look like a funny bloke tanking a dip with no shirt .Not that I would I don’t think Id be at all comfortable with that ,but somebody maybe with cataracts could cause a stir where do I stand with that ? I would love to wear a bikini but I have to be realistic, hopefully one day not this day. I have seen some nice one piece swimwear at target with some kind of built in shaping ie tummy support ,but am yet to try one. Your pattern idea to flatter your figure or lack of is a sensible idea I should have thought of that myself, maybe I will just not venture in this year till I get a few more curves hopefully ! I will check the swimwear website you mentioned also .
    Thanks Scylla xxx

They have some GREAT looking stuff in the plus sizes as well!
What’s annoying is that I’d have nowhere to wear any of the dresses they have.

If I did show you my swim suit collection I fear you be shocked all one piece all shapes and colours . Amanda is right avoid anything with flowers and red and black are a must.

Most of mien have tasted water and you best not waste a summer do it now!

I have two swim suits, a one piece and a tankini. I found the latter was excellent when I went for a dip in a pool although I admit if I were able to go out (ie have a suitable hair length and style) I would be looking for boy shorts for bottoms. The tankini drape hides a multitude of sins if your tummy is not that flat. The one piece does not sit right without breasts and with the male stomach shape!
