TG Mayor critisised for weaing short shirts
I came across this on Same Same this week, thought it may be of interest
Stu Rasmussen, the transgender mayor of Silverton, Oregon USA and America’s first transgender mayor, has been criticised by the local council for wearing “inappropriate clothing” while visiting a youth leadership training event.
According to Pinknews.co.uk a complaint was received after Rasmussen made the visit wearing a high heels, a very short skirt and a halter top. According to Brenda Sturdevant, the Director of Silverton Together, a non-profit family advocacy group, the outfit revealed “much of his bosom, shoulders and back” and that the choice of clothing was in violation of the city council’s dress code.
“This puts Silverton Together in a position that will be difficult to defend when we have sent our youth home on various occasions to change into something more appropriate,” said Sturdevant. “I expect our public leaders to follow the same guidelines that we have for our youth.”
Rasmussen was surprised by the complaint, initially thinking that it was a joke. When he realised it was genuine he wrote a rebuttal.
“It is surprising and disappointing that an organisation chartered to promote diversity and cultural understanding would take a public position of intolerance,” Rasmussen said.
According to Statesman Journal Rasmussen identifies as a heterosexual man but expresses her gender as female and has had breast surgery. He was elected as mayor last autumn and has served as mayor twice before, elected in 1988 and again in 1990, before undergoing breast surgery.
During his latest election he said: “I am a dude. I am a heterosexual male who appears to be a female.” He also told kgw.com: “Some guys’ mid-life crisis is motorcycles or sports cars or climbing mountains or trophy wives or whatever. I always wanted cleavage, so I went out and acquired some.”
