I watched a French Movie last evening on STAN. ‘The New Girl Friend’. It’s subtitled Made in 2014. Rather well done. Here’s thr IMBD Synopsis
A recently widowed man (Romain Duris) develops a close bond with his wife’s best friend (Anaïs Demoustier), while returning to his compulsion to dress like a woman.

    Sounds like an interesting plot.

It also sounds a little like a friend of mine who lives in Scotland. He had never crossdressed in his life but after his wife died, he discovered a new dress in her wardrobe that had never been worn before, so he tried it on and was instantly hooked and has not stopped since. One might suspect that it was a way of dealing with the grief but I do think there are a minority of us who get quite a way through life without even knowing we are transgender (but that’s another subject).

I will keep an eye out for the film; seems like it should be worth a view.

Thanks Claire. I’ve recently cancelled my subscription to STAN but I’d already paid for January and it seemed a shame to waste it. I’ve just spent a couple of hours on a lazy Sunday afternoon enjoying this movie.

    Hi Carol,
I keep dithering over whether to cancel or not. Then I see something and get hooked. I have been catching up on some old series, like ‘The West Wing’, ‘Yes Minister’ and ‘Yes Prime Minister’ and have been plowing my way through them.
I have found a few movies and docos involving T subjects. On Netflix I came across a comedy/romance where all the female roles were played by males. Can’t recall the name but it was quite well done. RuPAul’s Drag Race is on one of them.

Thanks for the heads up regarding this movie I watched it last night and actually really enjoyed it. It has stayed with me throughout the day to. Something that rarely happens with most modern films I must say.

I’ll look out for ‘The New Girlfriend’ I’m a bit of a fan regarding French movies, most of them are very well made with great acting and realistic roles. Best of all I brush up my French without following the English translation.
