Now I know this film has definitely divided people, both within and out of the TG community.
I thought it was a fairly well made movie, although the humor angle bothered me a bit for some reason. It’s like the movie kept see sawing from deep seriousness to light humor way to frequently, kind of diminishing the impact and focus of waht was at the heart of the story. There were some great performances though, namely Felicity Huffman. I guess this where the great divide comes in…a female playing a male to female transexual?? Whilst she did manage to put in a stellar and convincing performance (very brave too I might add)…the whole concept of casting a woman to play the role is SACRELIGOUS, to say the least.Still, if you can get past that, and handle the overall style of the movie, it can be quite a great little film with a strong message.
