One last thing, does this affect travelling on the ferry to Tasmania. Would there be an issue? I always fancied taking my lil 4WD over for a week. I rather like the idea of Claire driving on, spending the night in the lounge and driving off the next morning. Of course this was with the old ferry, the ‘block of flats’. I don’t know if the new ones have lounges.

Hi. On the ferry. Part. My girlfriend regularly travels over on her motorbike .as her girl name sake. So it can be done. And no dramas at all. They are as i spoke to them very accomodating….Hope that helps.

    Hi Claire and Adrian,

It’s been a year or three since I’ve been on the Tassie Ferry and tho I did not travel in the “Jetstar Lounge” up the “pointy end” (and that is usually the expensive way to travel), provided you a/. check with their reservation staff first and b/. “pass” as well as Claire does, I think it would be quite feasible to travel en femme.

And even tho there are bars and lounges right throughout the ship, unless $$ are a real problem, do yourself a favour and get a cabin. Eleven hours in a “Jokestar” seat, not fer this little old CD…

Of course come summer time you can always do a day sailing and maybe just Nana Nap in the “JQ seat”.

Due to the resrtictive Tassie quarantee laws, day sailings do have the problem of getting off at the other end in time to get to your accomodation. Takes hours to get through. We had booked at Cradle MOuntain and it was one scary drive up there on a “dark and stormy night”.

So book in Devonport if you do a day sailing.

Which brings me back to getting a cabin. If you first port of call is not Devonport, you’ll spend as much on your first nights accom in Devonport as you would a cabin on the ferry. So in summary, an overnight sailing with a cabin is the best value for $$$

    Happy Dressing and “gute Fahrt”

    Caty

No I’m not being rude. My night school German tells me it means “good travel”.
