  • UK event Sparkle

Is anybody heard of or going to a Trans Festival in UK called Sparkel.

It is hosted by the TG suport club Concord in Manchester UK. I just got back from a visit to UK (Ireland+England,+Scotland) and managed to contact and visit the Concord club and very much enjoyed that. I am from Chameleons in WA and it looks like 3 members are looking to go to Sparkle next year, the week end of the 10 july 2015.
Manchester looks a nice place for a party with lots of restaurants etc and and a canal going right though the middle. Canal houseboat looks a possibility.

Anybody else thinking of going to Sparkel 2015.

Try contacting Penny in NSW on this site. She went a couple of years ago.

I really ought to go to Sparkle sometime. I was born and bred in Greater Manchester but packed my bags in 1970 and came to Australia. There was nothing like Sparkle back then. UK friends can only say good things about it. Unlike most TG conventions it seems to be spread out over multiple venues.

Yes I have been to Manchester sparkle event, it does have a great turnout of people but in reality is set in a very small part of Manchester. It is an all-day event starting off with workshops on all subjects linked to our community the festival in the park starts mid-morning with lots of community involvement and the year I went there was a ball which at 20 pounds a ticket wasn’t a bad night out..

But lots of people that I knew spent the date time in the cafe or just going out shopping, then spend the evening in the many nightclubs within the festival area. I also went to the closing dinner hosted by the organisers of the event just so I could meet the people who put on such an event.
It was a wonderful event to go to and if I had the chance I go again…

Manchester is a great place to enjoy a good TG time. The LGBT clubs and pubs in the Canal area are of course quite supportive and there is always an interesting and friendly crowd in attendance. In my earlier days I enjoyed a three-day makeover just outside Manchester. The coup de grace was a night out at the Concord Club where I met people from the UK and Europe. The only problem was that my skirt dropped to the ground when I got out of the car. My hostess did a quick repair and I have never looked back (or down) since then :-)

Manchester is a great place to visit any day of the year, although I must admit that it is more pleasant, but not necessarily more cosy, in summer.
