Guest06/03/2008 at 11:44 amAs one of the main sponsers of the primary Bible for many years, was James 1 of England a known gay man, I think we can take it or leave it as we see fit! Of course he probably kept it in the closet at the time and who would blame him? They cut off the head of his Mummy and his son! And we think WE’VE got it tough!

Guest07/03/2008 at 1:04 amI believe strongly in god what i dont believe in is what mankind has done to the bible over year. Then you get into diofferent religious faiths christians muslims etc all over look when it suitas them TURN THE OTHER CHEEK
ONLY GOD SHALL JUDGE
I was born female just on wrogn body
When people say to me whe are you getting your penis removed etc i reply ummmmmmmm you mean when do i get my deformed clit fixed.
Give nthere are so many transexual and crossdressers i fail to see god would be one to take that as ok your all not welcome.
I believe like all society there will be good and bad in our community and if ones “worst” is crossdressing otr beeing transexual” i doubt they will be not welcome in heave.
this is my view however and only GOD knows the truth mankind has changed thiogns to suit self hence its why we had murders often under guise of religion making it right -

Guest08/03/2008 at 8:48 amit’s not quite the bible but I was reading the medieval Islamic Book of Curiousities, first written in the 11th century….about the inhabitants of the Arabian peninsula’s cure for illnesses…
“When a serious disease besets them, they mount their sick on wagons, put women’s clothes on men and men’s clothes on women, and then they recover from their illness.”ي
I wouldn’t have minded feeling unwell for a very long time.
Caro – it also contains their views on cosmology and astronomy

Guest08/03/2008 at 10:33 amLast time I was involved in this similar topic it was locked. So I am not going to coment on any message after this so Amanda would not have to lock this one.
I will say this. Apart from the odd few the discussions a hopelessly off track. And I mean hopelessly. My approach to this is as follows
If your feel that you would like to have a meaningful discussion and learn
If you want to believe in GOD’s word, not man made religion
If you believe or want to believe GOD created Heaven and Earth. not putting GOD in his creation, but the creator of physics, chemistry and biology
Put all your Christmas, Easter, lent etc in a pagen basket and open your mind in a clean slateThen email me privately. I think Amanda would appreciate that unless I hear from her otherwise to create a special section.
I repect all of your views. A lot of views are pass me downs of others who have a point of view based on hand me downs. ditto ditto ditto
I encourage heeps of questionsI do not profess to be perfect. I feel just the opposite. Everytime I read the Bible. I am FAR FAR FAR short of what God expects from me. What I do know is the path that I went up and came back a bit and a bit more,
I do know the path. Everything I discuss is scripturly based and quoted. I see the spiritual side that 99.9% don’t see. I am caught up in my own battle between GOD and SATAN but I do know the path to GOD thru JesusI feel for this world and the direction it is going, as many do
This is my only input

Guest08/03/2008 at 10:31 pmMy final public input on this subject is to say that I am proudly atheistic and that all religious beliefs should be subject to scrutiny and criticism in the same way everything else is.
As religious discussion seems to be discouraged publicly anyone is free to try to convince me in private that god exists or is at least relevant and that the bible was not written by the prehistoric predecessors of the American religious right.

I’d like to agree with Karen that religious beliefs are a deeply personal subject that are best explored privately – preferably late at night over a glass of good red wine.
Many of you will know that I encourage this web site to support diversity and hope that provides a forum to understand, respect and learn from. the opinions and experience of others.
I only intervene in the discussions when someone has the audacity to state they are right and others are wrong without any hard evidence to support their case.
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), with religion there is no hard evidence and so I cannot accept that anyone has the right or wrong views. They are all equally valid and equally unsubstantiated. So if you can continue a public discussion on religion without making assertions that your views are right, or attacking others’ beliefs as wrong then go ahead. There are very real issues about the relationship between religious beliefs, established religions, and being transgender that should be discussed.
But if you want to make a stronger case that what you believe is right then please follow Karen’s suggestion and take it off line to discuss it privately.
Thanks

Guest15/06/2008 at 6:19 amQuote:hi …. welll some of you have seen some thing that appers to be in the bible .well this is not the case the veres that is used has nothing to do with us at all .the translation it does not have any thing to do with cd s & ts or any body other than what it was dealing with then . not now . or what we see now . it had to do with the war that was going on then ….if a women was found in male war clothes she would have been killed ….note child bearing women ….. then for the males they were told not to wear female clothes because they were wearing war clothes as per fighting men so there you have it . it has not been translated as it should have been so remember it was some time ago. not any thing to do with us …..deuteronomy 22 v 5 if taken out of context can be made to mean what ever people want it to . so be carefull some of these people will use to day what they perceve in there minds to use against us. & i know them very well. this is just a small part of all the detail that there is …noeleena….Ahh, thank you very much for putting the quote into context. Now if only those who are opposed to the idea lof dressing did the same & put the bible into context instead of just quoting tiny bits, well, they wouldn’t have anything to oppose – or at the very least, they would have to own up to ignorance & their own personal issues instead of being opposed to it because of the religious belief system they follow.
I suspect the same would apply to a lot of the bible if people were to correctly put things into context, or at least recognise that there’s more than one’s own interpretation of things 😉

Guest15/06/2008 at 9:10 pmI believe that
The bible i book of gods Love any verse that does not reflect this has been translated incorectly.
The only things that god doesn’t like according to the bible is when people treat each other badly.
if somebody wishes to know the true translation or context of a biblical passage that goes against these PM me If I don’t know off hand than I’ll enjoy the research -

Guest01/03/2009 at 8:57 amThis is a gross mis-translation of Deuteronomy 22:5
When Duet. 22.5 is translated from the Hebrew it refers to; Never cause or force a warriors Weapon to be used by a woman or weak person; neither dress a warriors armour on a woman or weak person for YAHVEH, GOD of HOST, considers such things disgusting for those that force the weak woman to fight in a war.
Oops. That secret isn’t supposed to be out. Next is Mark 15 – Jesus sent 2 Apostles to find a man carrying a jug of water, who would show them to the room where the Last Supper would be held
Shock, horror. A man, in a harshly patriachial sociery doing women’s work – an outcast. A man living, going the work of a woman. Geuss what? Jesus included a boy/girl to help in the preparations for the Last Suppoer. This is about inclusion, acceptance from Jesus himself
Stop listening to the false witnesses. Denounce their corruption of the true work of God.
Take Care
Be Brave. Life is Joyous

Guest01/03/2009 at 9:49 pmI think we should all stop, stop and think I don’t want to upset anyone that deeply believes in this book and the other people who wished to think outside the square let them.
This book was written in a time when people were not that smart and storytelling was an art form, also this book was written by many people each with their own style. Apart from going to hell cross dressing, but in Leviticus you can find many ways to punish people, stoning to death planting to different crops in one field, burning one’s mother for wearing cloth of two different threads, and is touching the skin of a pig makes one unclean. these values from thousands of years ago not to day.
If you have an axe to grind you can twist any sentence, and also remember this book was translated centuries ago and was not meant for public at that time but for the priests to interpret for his followers. Also in recent years I have been led to believe that several books for the Bible were never translated such as the book of Mary. So let me say I think this book has been edited to a point that anyone can read into anything if they want.
So let’s all remember some people in our community ‘believe” and that’s their right.
But at the end of the day I think we all can just live together in peace and not be worried of what the person next door is doing or wearing for me this would make the world a better place.

Guest09/04/2010 at 9:49 amive had recent reason to look into this subject. The best argument ive read so far is on http://www.tgchrysalis/sinful. this is very pro transgender and christian.
deutoronomy is old testament. A good christian friend of mine, who knows what i am, says Jesus rewrote the old laws and hence the new testament. basically she said forget what the old testament says.

Guest10/04/2010 at 12:13 amSomething that I read put the Old Testament into some context for me. Most of it was written in the Bronze Age!!! There are tracts that speak of The Israelites at war with people who had “Iron” weapons and so the Issies lost ( where was god when they needed him?)
It is basically a set of rules for an ancient tribal group in a particular time in History and Geographical area. To see it as a timeless and Universal set of rules , relevant in 2010, is a crazy notion IMO. That said, anyone who eats shellfish or wears wool AND linen together..deserve everything they get!!!!!!!!!!!
