Guest17/07/2010 at 1:01 amLK mentioned that she was late here by a year or two, spare a thought for me! I listen to a lot of stuff, my preferences are well and truly varied but I do like the Travelling Wilburys a lot. Billy Joel would be my favourite though, both recorded and live and the Dixie Chicks come to mind as well. In the car and all night Sat. on my garbage run my radio is stuck on Triple M, I guess that I’m some sort of rock chick too in a way!
See ya!

Guest17/07/2010 at 2:03 amI just love digital radio. All the AM, FM and DAB stations in sensational surround sound. Right now I am listening to the digital only station called U20. Last few songs were Allejandro by Lady GaGa, California Gurls by Katy Perry, and Mr Mysterious by Vanessa Amerossi.
Cheers

Certainly have a wide range of tastes don’t we? My tastes have always been wide but I always react to the mood rather than use music to create it. This post did cause me to think, though, how little I actually play keyboards when en femme. It’s almost like music is a separate interest. My femme side doesn’t have a separate musical taste although I can understand that it would work for others.
My big favourites are Joe Jackson (for the last thirty years) and Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen. (Jon’s at the Basement in October).
Recently we have become fans of a couple of Sydney acts – the hard rockin’ “Chase The Sun” and the amazing one man band Claude Hay, after seeing them at the Vanguard a few weeks ago.

Guest03/09/2010 at 3:05 pmLouis Armstrong once said that there’s only 2 types of music: good music and bad music and he covered a lot of genres in his lifetime. Unfortunately, I don’t listen to Satchmo much these days. My favourite Aust band at the moment is The Drones… quite a remarkable band. I’m rediscovering Leonard Cohen, (but don’t listen if you’re depressed), and I will never tire of Stravinsky’s Firebird and Rite of Spring. The only “bad” music I can think of is the doof-doof dance music favoured by young people on dangerous drugs and rap, both of which would be better labelled “non-music”. Apart from that, I’ll listen to just about anything with an open mind.

Guest04/09/2010 at 2:39 amI agree that the music that I listen to depends on my mood, and also that the music can affect my mood.
Most of the time, I listen to Raw-FM, a dance music station that plays that “doof-doof” music. And I am not on any drugs. I know I’m in the minority, as most people who like dance music are half my age. I find that dance music lifts my spirit and energises me.
If I’m really stressed, some new age or Baroque classical soothes me.
Mozart can both relax and lift my spirit. And of course, who can’t help but be moved by such well-know classics as Spring from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, Pachelbel’s Canon, or Bach’s Toccata and Fugue
Some pop music is OK, but I can’t stand heavy metal, rock, rap or country.
