I occasionally post names of places to go in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and further afield but the truth is that presenting femme does not limit your choice of places to go. There are places that I wouldn’t regard as safe but all mainstream places will welcome you (and your money). It is about confidence and attitude.

I agree with Michelle that it is all about confidence and attitude. I was out in a very suburban club a while back to see a drag show and I was dressed and the only issue was the photo ID part. No hassles and yes they were pleased to take my money. I guess that more mainstream acceptance is a good thing but it fragments the community. Change is part of life.
For me I am pleased that I can go out where I live (which is nowhere near any tg epicenter) dressed how I like. All I need is that confidence and attitude. High heels help that :P

Gosh Juliette I’m jealous that you can wear high heels. My arthritic ankles with high heels would be a sure wrecker of confidence and poise.

Pleased that you enjoy your time out.

A long time ago I lost the feeling that I need to go to Venues that are “TG friendly”. as if that meant mainly populated by TG people. Thats almost like saying I wont go out anywhere unless there are other TG people there.

Having said that its nice to join my TGR friends out socially but I dont think we feel the need to adopt a particular venue or two as a ” Belfry,Haven ,Coven or whatever collective noun you may want to choose for us LOL

Plenty of opportunities to post an event to a venue of your choice and see if any one wants to join you AND enjoy the fun of mixing with the general public.
Thats why we choose the Opera Bar as our end of year party location is it TG friendly ? well Yes but so is pretty much anywhere in Sydney IMHO.
