Hi there, I just thought I would throw this out there and see what others say

I guess I have always had a bit of fixation on high ponytails and would love to be able to achieve that effect. Do people know if the only way to achieve it is with a full lace wig and using adhesive etc to keep your wig in place for long periods of time?

I know there are pony tail hair pieces you can clip in to other hair..

Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated

    thanks

    Melissa

    Hi Melissa
Its one of those hairstyles that can look fabulous and can go from casual elegance to high glamour.

I’m not sure any wig could do justice to the look may because the hair is being pulled away from the head in all directions and some exposure of what’s underneath will be evident.

Nevertheless if you try the ponytail extension you’ll need to match the hair colour exactly.

Would like to see some photos if you choose to experiment.

    Cheers

Melissa I know exactly what you mean…I’ve tried to wrangle this problem on many occasions with varying degrees of success.

What Caroline says is spot on….the only way to do it is by using 2 x wigs. One shortish (you can still use bangs which I’ve found more successful as it frames the face) and the ‘pony tail’ clipped to the first main wig. The critical thing, as Caroline said, is wig colour matching. The only colour I have found to really work is jet black but others may have other ideas?

Hi Melissa, I asked my wig fitter about this topic a while ago and she said it can be done but you need a well fitting quality wig, preferably of human hair, their less prone to static and matting at the back of your neck with wear. Best of luck Rosemary

I do have human hair wigs but I have found that it seems I would have to use some form of adhesive in order to be able to achieve the effect and I generally only wear wigs for an hour or two at a time and still can’t bring myself to walk past my neighbours all dressed up even though some already know and I really don’t have any social standing to lose through people finding out.
As I have mentioned over the years, unfortunately in order to get to my car, I have to walk past at least 2 other apartments or 4 depending on which way I go. There is no alternative.

I guess having an encounter with a couple of random whackjobs in the immediate area near my home (within 100m) has made me a little gun shy even though I was not in girl mode.
One young girl (about 20) abused the hell out of me for not getting out of her way, then followed me and then took my photo. That is by far the worst one and that was just over a year ago.
Even though she was half my size and age, she was certainly a bully
That wasn’t my neighbours by any means otherwise there would have been all sorts of complaints lodged with relevant authorities.
but this is getting off topic

I guess I will always just have to dream about it even though I have learned through another site that there are companies that sell hats with ponytails attached

I have a human hair wig which can be worn as a pony tail. I use an adhesive which lasts for several hours and have
occasionally worn my wig in a ponytail. It does take a lot of care to get it right. So it’s best to get some help if you can.
If not just keep practising at home until you get it right before venturing outdoors.
