wig at sides of head

Hi Fiona, do you wear a wig cap underneath your wig? If you do then you can use a bobby pin to attach wig to the cap or if your hair is long enough then you can make a pincurl from your own hair and pin the wig to that. Older wigs or cheapies curl up at the edges sometimes so there may be a need to get a new or better one for outings ? I do think that wigs with a fringe are best to overcome these problems as they conceal so much.

I had a similar problem when I bought a new wig a few months ago. The wig is a very different colour to my own hair, and my hair was showing down the sides of my forehead. I also found that some of my hair was coming down below the front edge of the wig at the middle of my forehead, between my widows peaks.

Thanks in part to a comment from Jenny from the Central Coast, I solved the problem by using a pencil to mark the line of where the wig came to, then taking off the wig and shaving the hair off so that there was no hair there to show past the edges of the wig.

Doing so made my hairline more rounded to follow the outline of the wig, and as a side effect it made my widows peaks look less severe than they used to, which gave me the confidence to go out without a wig, which I’ve been doing regularly since.

As a slight aside to this topic, you may all know that , in general ,the male hairline and is more irregular in shape and that the area of male foreheads is larger ( wider from eyebrows to hairline) For this reason, fringes suit most people of both sexes . Whether it is a full fringe, whispy or side fringe, a wig or hairstyle with a fringe is most likely to suit and will alleviate a lot of the problems we have in this thread. I always found it hard to find wigs big enough for my head and so don’t bother wearing them but then I am blessed in the follicle arena!

All of my wigs have fringes.

I found that with a wig that was significantly different to my natural hair colour, the hair on the sides of my forehead would often show through the fringe and be very noticeable. The hair in the middle of the top of the forehead wasn’t as bad when brushed back under the wig, but I’d occasionally catch it with my brush when brushing the fringe of the wig, pulling hair of a different colour into the fringe.

Hello Girls,

I had the same problem with the sides of the wig, until I tried first a front lace wig and then a full lace wig. As you glue it down to your hairline and the wig cap is holding your hair, you can secure the wig with the glue and keep the wig for a few days…it’s really great, but it is more expensive!
