  • Wigs for large heads

I’ve pretty much given up hope of finding a wig that fits me other than literally two styles of wig off of one american website so I’d probably have to investigate custom made wigs.
My head is just too darn big and there isnt a heck of a lot I can do about it.
I have tried assorted businesses in brisbane, sydney, the breastformstore in nsw, a couple of websites based in victoria, some businesses in the UK and also a few in the USA and the results have all been the same,
    “none are big enough”.
So where do I start to look for custom made wigs and are they going to cost several hundred dollars as a starting point?

    hi melissa

    give these people a try:

    http://www.wigs.com/index.php?cPath=1&filter_list=f_large_caps

some of the prices are very reasonable, even with shipping, so even experimenting with a couple will not set you back too far. and they are advertised as “large size”. as they say, if all else fails …

    good luck!

thanks Virginia but large cap sized wigs arent big enough. The website (with actual stores in america) where I bought my existing wigs from, they apparantly got those style wigs made in the largest size possible and that’s pretty much what I need.
So other than the very limited selection on there, I dont know what else to do other than a custom made one but then again as melissa only comes out to play on very limited occasions these days, I dont want to fork out $500 (or thereabouts) on one wig

I suggest getting a hand made wig made to measure.

There are professional wig makers here in Australia (main work is for the Television and film Industry). Getting one made here well, will not be a cheap option…

You can also try overseas if you are happy with choosing the color and style via the Internet. One place I know is Bangkok Wigs pdf file here
    http://host-a.net/bambi/BangkokWigs-01.pdf

Whoever you go to you will need your 5 head measurements:

    1. Circumference of head.
    2. Ear to ear across top of head.
    3. Hairline to nape of neck
    4. Temple peak to temple peak around head
    5. Width of nape.

    The best of luck

    Hi mel

So feeling your pain, and I give you all my sympathies. My head shall we say, is well endowed to say the least.
I am very lucky as I can, and have grown my own hair. Before it was such a nightmare wearing a wig that was basically too small for me. I was just waiting for that ping and it literally jump off my head.

Here’s the thing though, a wig’s size is governed by its webbing, I think a skilled and trustworthy seamstress could alter this and add webbing.
This would be very cost affective, I think, as opposed to custom. Just a thought.

If you ever find girls sun hats that fit a big head with a ton of wild hair let me know.
    Good luck my sister.

    Love Lilly xxx
