From the time I was nine, my father decided he was a woman. He became “Becky.” Sort of.
The truth is no amount of hormones or cosmetic surgery could change my dad into a female. Of course, not even a simulated tampon could change his natural biological sex. His DNA still said male in every cell. No matter how much make-up, cosmetic surgery, and dresses he wore, my dad was a male who, after all, had fathered children with my mother. That is reality.
We are in the cultural grip of what the American Psychological Association celebrates and champions: creating a genderless society at the cost of reality.Glamour magazine recently naming Caitlyn Jenner its 2015 “Woman of the Year” is only the tip of the iceberg. So society continues down delusional lane by reinforcing unhealthy ideals of gender and favoring a pretend world of identity politics that manufacturers gender-confused children. These children are being pushed to reject their bodies as biologically male or female. Instead, they’re being told to choose a range of gender fantasies.

Perhaps , as she was affected at nine with the loss of her father, she can be forgiven for still carrying her grief ( though she does live in the Land of Therapies) and having a lash out at countless unknown strangers may bring her some comfort.
However it is part of a growing trend to attempt to reinfect the world with a conformity in order to keep themselves safe in their narrow World view, where ” God made it that way and who are you to disobey God??”
To which I say, ” Sex and travel!”
I do agree that perhaps a degree of fantasy and self deception is involved when Trans folk think to define themselves but this is so for everyone, surely? As I am wont to opine, the Human brain is designed to see itself as the centre of things but how can the very organ that is thinking, hope to analyze and think about itself, with any hope of the outcome being accurate ? It is like trying to sit on a chair and lift oneself off the ground by pulling upward on the chair! It is the Human condition. Self deception!
I contend , while accepting that I might not have it all worked out, that I can identify myself as Trans with the same legitimacy as anyone who identifies themselves as a car racing driver or a soldier or Academic or whatever. It is MY view of myself as it is theirs. It is a decision ( dare I say CHOICE) that I make to act in accordance with my feelings, the same as anyone else does. Society may see some folk as more acceptable than they do one who presents as a woman, yet lacks that ” smelly vagina” that some think is so essential!! Their values are not my values and I decline to accept their view of things. I am lucky that I live in a Society that allows me that right to dissent.
Some think that by allowing those such as “teh Trans” into the sunlight, that it will encourage the naive and vulnerable to join in the pain and anxiety that our life can bring. That is crap IMO. They just want us to shut up and do what THEY think is RIGHT.
Make no mistake, if the religious Right had the power to make the rest of us conform to their World view , they would be just as bad as any Sharia regime!
They have had their day. For millenia, the dissenters of the World were persecuted and murdered by such as they, merely for wanting to be themselves. Yet now the same people, the religious hardliners, stripped of their power by secular forces, are bitching about oppression of their life choices.Well,again I say, “Sex and travel”
