I have just finished reading a relatively new publication, ‘The Conscious Parent’s Guide To Gender Identity’ (231 pages) by Darlene Tando, published this year. The book presents a mindful approach to embracing your child’s authentic self.’ Now, obviously the book is aimed at parents with questioning children around the gender identity, however much of what was written equally applies to adults, including wrinkly oldies who are well past their prime. The book is especially focussed on feelings, outcomes and support for the children ( where, oh where was this book when I was a kid? It is not about clothing, make up or endeavouring to pass. Why on earth should children pass, they’re just being themselves, thank God. I borrowed mine from the public library which tells a story; libraries are even taking notice of important issues around gender.

Libraries are usually progressive in their book collections.

Is the word Mindful used in connection with the Mindful Mediation or mindful in terms of being considered and thoughtful?

    The latter.
