I hope you are right Josephine. Another sign of changed community attitudes that cheered me up was when a couple of high profile politicians tried to express sympathy with the victims without mentioning they were part of the LGBTI community. Public and media opinion quickly pulled those pollies into line.

Trump is starting to backpedal. He now thinks bathrooms are a states rights issue and the states should be able to set rules that work locally. Pity, for a brief moment I thought he had one shred of humanity left.

Far too confrontational for me. It seems like Eddie is asking for trouble by glaring at people. I prefer to smile and de-escalate the potential for violence that way.

This has gone on a long while but since Cruz has withdrawn and Trump (pro-bathroom equality) is the presumptive Republican candidate perhaps long enough. Part of me though wishes the test was whether a prostate is there or not. By that test I’m a woman. Pity about the other surplus bits of my anatomy that the surgeons haven’t got around too.

Oh well!! That’s a NO for pelvic scanners I guess.
I should have declared in previous posts that I have no interest, real or otherwise in companies manufacturing, promoting or dealing with pelvic scanner.

I hear what you say Adrian. Not every system is perfect,yet. My experience is different to yours which takes the rest room debate off the table.
Lets hope the plebiscite rectifies the matter for you.
In the meantime, I vote for pelvic scanners to resolve the matter.

Change the birth certificate. Problem solved. Let get on with life and stop this noise. It’s disturbing the beauty of the day.
I don’t see pelvic scanners being installed in rest rooms any time soon.

There’s a great article by Josephine Tovey in the Sun Herald today (1 May). The article covers North Carolina’s law on “places of public accommodation”. See I didn’t use the word “bathroom”.

Certainly seems to be an interesting experience for these guys. Maybe if they evangelised their mates and other guys into taking a little more care in their outward looks and presentation, us women may become a little more interested in them.

I am somewhat bemused at the last comment. I just simply love being me, from a very NON narcissistic position. Being my own best friend gives me the insight on how to treat others as my best friend.

Hi Julie,
Not sure how far along the path you are on this topic. There are tow matters you may need to consider, if not already done so. The first is physical, the second is psychological. I have gleamed these perspective from 3 women who have undergone BA in the past 3 years.
The first one being physically related concerns your thoughts on hormone therapy, either now or in the future. Either way you need to be aware of the changes associated with any form of HT. I am aware, some people using HT can experience growth spurts even 10 years on. Changes associated with HT can therefore change your physical outline which may not be complementary.
The second matter is the psychological aspect. After the initial euphoria has wained and life goes back to some form of normality, all 3 women have reported varying degrees of disassociation with their new appendages. Two have sort assistance from their therapist / counsellor and are dealing with the matter, the other hasn’t and still finds the disassociation difficult to dealt with.
To be forearmed is to be forewarned. Hope everything work out for you.

I haven’t googled unisex names but can easily think of heaps of them. The first to leap into my mind was “Jan” as in Jan Morris the author formerly known as “James” who deliberately chose her new name because it was androgenous. Even “Carol” can be a boys name for some people with an east european background.

Thanks Sara. I read this article without great hopes. I’ve read enough “expert” rubbish in my time. Like you though, I found my own life illuminated by a remarkably understanding author.
