  • This highlights a few points on this subject,

There are several stores that are Tg friendly around Sydney that offer exceptional service, so my experience was not isolated
There is growing acceptance of Trans people among younger shop assistants
This provides me and others with a list of “safe” and friendly stores where we willl feel comfortable

Keep the recommendations coming as I would rather shop somewhere that I feel welcome than where the sales person is cold towards me.

I am looking forward to my next (shopping) trip to Sydney

I gave had some great experiences and some very “cold shoulder” experiences. Needless to say if no one wants to help me there are plenty of other shop out there that will help and I will gratefully part with my money to those that give great sale assistance.

I find that there is often one sales girl, often mid 20’s or older in the boutique chains who are open minded.

Recently in Sydney in got into a very interesting conversation, between trying dresses, about corsets. Turns out the sales lady did fashion design and was somewhat keen to learn more about the TG community.
Golden rule is be polite, don’t push it and respect their profession.
Point to note that is if they are friendly and helpful, then thank them for being so. Often they just shrug and say everyone is equal to them.
