Wooooooooooooooosh!!!!!!
Suddenly all the numbers fall into place and we have a financial plan for the weekend.
At this stage tickets should go on sale Sunday (21st) evening. I’ll be emailing everyone on our mailing list (including non-TgR guests) to confirm this.
Big sigh of relief from organiser

Do we need to use their Photographer or can we use one of our own? Surely we have people with the skills to act as photographer for the event.

Quite simply there is an unreasonable conflict of interest. Anyone who comes to Transformal as a guest doesn’t expect to spend 3 or more hours on the Saturday night staring down a camera lens and missing out on the fun. We have tried many options over the years – but by far the best has been to engage a professional at an appropriate rate. Which is what we are endeavoring to do at the moment.

Just 2 now!
We have currently sold 2/3 of the tickets and already have 7 tables filled for the Saturday Formal.
For those with a statistical bent:
[ol]
[li]22% of the ticket holders are attending TransFormal for the first time (but I dare say not for the last time)[/li][li]We have bookings from NZ and every state except WA/TAS/NT. What has happened to all the girls in Tasmania? [/li]
[li]At a rough guess about 13 couples have registered so far for the weekend (that’s over half of all the weekend tickets) [/li]
[/ol]

That was popular!!! All sold!
We still have tickets left for the Friday/Saturday weekend and also for just the Saturday night formal.
But just [strike]23[/strike] 21 places left on Saturday night – so don’t think about it for too long!

For the Friday reception we have a 1920’s theme. If you need some guidance on what to wear then there is a great introduction to roaring twenties themed clothing by Vintage Dancer here.
Quote:In a nut shell 1920s fashion for women was all about getting loose which applied to morals too. Dresses were sleeveless, shapeless, long or short slip gowns accented with beading, sequins, fringe, and some feathers. Rich jewel tones and soft pastels made the simplest of gowns look expensive. Add to that some lavish accessories such as a diamond tiara or headband, silk shawl, feather fan, long pearl necklaces, and gold arm bangles and you will look like a silent movie star! The webpage has some advice on how to pick up a 1920s style dress on the cheap, or even dress up something you already have in your wardrobe.
And if that is just too much – just throw some long beads over your fav outfit!

As far as I know the Blue Mountains are to the forefront in celebrating IDAHOT. Not only do they actually have public events that are widely supported in the community – they also have the backing of the Blue Mountains Council who are refreshingly progressive in this matter.
Hence my pleasure in finding that Transformal will co-incide with their celebrations for the 4th year in a row.-
At this stage I have no details other than what I published in the flier. No doubt some more detail will arrive in the inbox over the coming weeks and I’ll share it.
But in so far as there may be a conflict of timing it only applies to the lucky few who have full weekend tickets. The rest of the guests can get their lingerie from Abraskadabras then head on down to Echo Point to show it off at the photo shoot.

Thankyou to Carol for spotting this article about IDAHOT in the Blue Mountains Gazette.
Coming together for IDAHOT in Blue Mountains
The article starts with a nice group picture from 2015 showing the TransFormal banner (thanks banner girls!)
Quote:Fellow Katoomba resident and IDAHOT committee member Malcolm McPherson will speak at a second IDAHOT event, to be held from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, May 21 in Katoomba’s Carrington Square.
The community event – held on the Saturday for those who can’t attend Tuesday’s flag raising – will feature live entertainment, a photo exhibition, refreshments and speeches by several people including Mr McPherson, who is also the NSW Co-convenor of Australian Marriage Equality.
“Transphobia and homophobia, and the social and legal discrimination that follow, cause immense harm to the mental health and wellbeing of LGBT people,” said Mr McPherson.
“IDAHOT is important in creating a more positive environment and a more inclusive community for us all.”
The IDAHOT events will conclude with a photo shoot at 2pm on Sunday, May 22 alongside the rainbow flag at Echo Point. All community members are welcome to attend.
The events will coincide with TransFormal, a three-day celebration of gender diversity culminating in the annual TransFormal dinner/dance at the Carrington Hotel on May 21.

It just shows, in my opinion, how successfully this event has evolved since No 1.
A Fantastic 20’s theme gathering on Friday night was just the perfect Entree for the Main Course on Saturday night.
I hope everyone and especially those who attended Transformal for the first time will take away many happy memories of the weekend.
Lots of photos were taken by our professional photographer Ben Pearse and I am sure everyone will be happy when they see the results, especially those portrait shots taken at the start of the evening. So much Glamour on show.
In about two weeks , those who attended the saturday evening will be able to access a link and download as many images as they wish that were taken during the evening.
Another great effort by Adrian and all the lovely staff at The Carrington.

Was my third Transformal and my wife’s first. Both of us had a great time over the weekend and will be there next year. Everyone was very welcoming to Angie as they had been to me in previous years.
To end the weekend with a pool party was a great idea and we really enjoyed it “SA Great”.
Thanks to Adrian and Megan for all their efforts to organise the weekend and to their band of volunteers who help bring the event together for all of us to enjoy.
Until next year. :cheer:

What a superb weekend event Transformal 2016 was. Thank you so very much Adrian and Megan and all the volunteers and helpers.
This was my second Transformal and a few had told me that nothing beats your first but I loved this year much more.
A lovely vibe permeated the hotel and I for one feel that it had more than a little to do with the increase in the number of partners attending.
Can’t wait to see all the glamour photos.
Ticking off the calendar for next year.
Thanks again.-
Much thanks once again to all who contributed to providing a great weekend @ TF. It’s always a pleasure to be a part of it all. :cheer:

Thanks to the 44 people who have shared their experiences of TransFormal in the survey. I’ll be closing the survey on Tuesday – so if you want to make your opinions and suggestions count you have a couple of days left.
When the survey closes I’ll analyse the data and present some summaries in this thread.

Well I totally agree with all the comments above. Fantastic weekend, well done Amanda, Megan and all the behind the scenes helpers. I particularly enjoyed the Friday theme night with most guests joining in the dress up fun. I thought the Saturday activities were much more relaxed than in previous years, probably because I didn’t try to attend every one!
Saturday night was the usual success with lots of gorgeous gowns and dresses. Music was great again and it’s a shame that one bung lung Fay could only manage 5 minutes on the dance floor.
During a quite moment on Sunday Amanda asked me what I thought could be improved upon and I honestly couldn’t think of a thing. Transformal has matured like a fine wine.
God willing I’ll be there in 2017.
Hugs to all, Fay.

Guest28/05/2016 at 4:05 amHard for me to add much – except to say, as a first-timer, I felt really happy and comfortable from the start and really loved all the fun and friendship – plus it was quite a wonderful little watershed for me

I would like to add echo the previous comments; it was a terrific weekend, Saturday night a wonderful showpiece! Thanks to Amanda, Megan, and all the volunteers who gave up their time to make it such a success.

Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts about TransFormal 2016 in the survey.
This year I heard from 47 guests – just about 50%.
As you can see from the graph below, I get more responses from those who stayed the weekend. But in terms of growing TransFormal the opinions of those who came for the weekend are probably more valuable.Regardless of how long guests were able to enjoy TransFormal they all enjoyed the event rating it “Excellent” or “Good”. The Excellent percentage (89%) is significantly improved from TransFormal 2015 (76%).
Over a quarter of the responses to the survey came from people who had attended their first TransFormal. The experiences of these first-timers is always of particular interest.
36 of the responses came from people who stayed in the Carrington Hotel. And 32 rated their accommodation “Excellent”.
Once again the Saturday night formal rated highly for the venue and the food served.
Our ‘resident’ band playing for the 4th time was enjoyed by nearly 90% of the guests. Although some responses pointed to the need for a “new band” this wasn’t borne out by the survey. Big Radio Dynamite remains better regarded than the three bands we tried before engaging them.
The Friday 1920’s reception was a new concept this year and appears to be well liked. The theme was also warmly embraced with over half the guests dressing to the 1920’s style.
We delivered nine workshops on Saturday this year. They were generally rated as being “Excellent” or “Good”. I will pass the detailed feedback on to individual presenters. Finally, the guests with a Full Weekend ticket were able to enjoy Grand High Tea and the Perfect Pool Party on Sunday. The graph below shows that these additions to the weekend program were widely enjoyed.
Of course the real value in running the survey is to hear your suggestions for how the event could be improved. Each year I try to incorporate as many suggestions as I can. And the survey this year gave me plenty to think about when we start planning again next year.
So that wraps up TransFormal 2016 for me.
