TgR Wall Forums Transgender Radio Admin… Commercial Use Policy

  • Commercial Use Policy

The increasing popularity of TgR has resulted in mounting pressure to accommodate the needs of businesses who want to sell services or products into the Australian TG community. Whilst we have welcomed as members of TgR several girls who run commercial ventures, we have also had to reject applications from non-TG run businesses.

Restricting membership to Australian transgendered girls is, I believe, essential if we are to maintain the unique character of the site. But if members use the forums as free advertising for commercial ventures this would be at the expense of other non-TG owned services who are denied access. I don’t think it is appropriate for the site to discriminate between TG and non-TG run businesses in that way.

Many members of our community are searching for suppliers and shops that they can trust, but I am not convinced that commercial sponsored advertising as found on most other portals is the best way to fill this need. TgR is structured to provide recommendations, feedback and support from the community, rather than direct advertising from suppliers.

It is apparent that I must establish a policy to ensure that TG friendly businesses are treated equitably whilst preserving the non-commercial character of the site.

The elements of this policy are as follows:

    1. The forums have been expanded to include a public “Shopping Arcade” where commercial services and products can be freely advertised. These forums are moderated but are open to postings from members and non-members alike. (viewforum.php?f=137 viewforum.php?f=138 )

    2. Outside these new forums (and including the chat rooms) members offering commercial services should self-regulate their postings. Detailed and informative responses to requests for help are, as always, acceptable. But any unsolicited advertising is not. Specifically the state based resources forums are reserved for members to share recommendations and experiences and commercial promotion in these forums is not permitted.

If anyone has any questions as to what is or isn’t acceptable use please contact the administrators (Amanda@trannyradio.com) prior to posting.
