Cross-dressing copper
10/08/2005
A male former police superintendent is planning to return to work
as a woman. Duncan Poulton, 57, shocked colleagues at Greater
Manchester Police when he announced that, when he returned from
taking a short holiday, he would be coming into work wearing
lady’s clothes and make-up, and that he wished to be known as
‘Catherine’. In an open letter, PC Poulton said: “For my part, my
hope is that this change in my life does not cause undue disruption
for you as a work colleague.”He claims to be suffering from gender
dysphoria, whose victims feel uncomfortable about their
sex.Greater Manchester Police have helped to ease the confused
copper’s dilemma by offering him or her their full support.
