    Vampi, I’m with you

clip-ons hurt so I got my ears done 4 weeks ago when on holidays. I was quite worried about what other people, epecially at work, would say. In the end I thought “stuff it” and just did it

My boss said “I used to have an ear ring. A red one” Others just said “Oh, you got the other one done”. My reply: “Actually I got them both done. Never had one before”

Like a wise girl on this site said recently (to paraphrase) – the barriers are (largely) in our imaginations

get them done. You wont be sorry

    hugs

Truly, IMO no one could care less if you got both ears pierced. I got mine done at age 45 a year ago and I hardly got a comment. I do spend 95% of my time in boy mode. Only those who did comment were family and one or two people that I knew. Its really a non issue and it has opened up my world for earrings choice.

I’ve had both of my ears pierced for years…and it had nothing to do with with crossdressing at the time when I got them done. It’s quite common for guys to have both their ears pierced these days…so really there’s not much to worry about…

As some of the other girls have suggested, get them pierced, and you won’t look back…

Hi, I’m trying to pluck up the courage to have my ears pierced-God knows the big butch Marlboro man who works in the office next door has had both of his done years ago and I’d say judging by the cowboy moustache that he doesn’t enjoy the pleasures of frocking up. That aside one of my friends here has found a shop that will change earrings for pierced ears into clip ons! If it can be done in Slowbart it must be a Monty elsewhere.

Just my view for what its worth……… get them both done and if ya worried bout being seen with two ear rings wear sleepers at night and one earing when you in male mode etc:)) I found out as I WENT FULL TIME AND WAS HAVING TO DRESS MALE FOR SOME WORK I still wore my earrings and no one said a thing .
Thats just my 2 cents worth not saying im right or wrong:))

I know that I’m going off topic a bit here but the best advice that I can give to anyone who dreams of getting their ears pierced is to just go and get it done. The world will not explode, and most people won’t say a thing.

The only thing holding you back is your own fear.

If you’re in Newcastle, I’ll take you to get it done, and I’m sure that there are girls all over the country who would do likewise.

Solves the problem of getting clip-ons. :)

Felicity_Lane> Re: Ears lobes piercings: May I suggest you go to a professional body piercing place. They will do it with a correct piercing needle, and it will be all sterile. The ears can take up to 6 weeks to heel and during that time the piercings can’t be removed. I got captive ball circular piercings, not studs as they are easier to keep clean, I feel. I used sterile saline solution, sold for washing contact lenses and cotton buds to clean. (Don’t use the same cotton bud for the different ears).

I suggest not going to jewelry stores to get your ears pierced with a ‘gun’ that is not sterile, and just kept in a draw with other things. At a piercer the cost was for me in Brisbane $35 including the jewelry. (2 ear lobes – Sep 19 2008 pierced).

    Bambi
I’d also agree. I got mine done in a hardresser’s and I think the gun was sterile.. I think…

I got surgical stainless steel studs which are hard to keep clean and get crud both in front and back of the lobe. They’ve been in for I think 4 or 5 weeks but I took them out briefly today to give them a clean (they needed it!) and now my lobes are a little sensitive again. I assume this may mean the healing will take longer. Ie, longer till I can wear dangly or hooped ear rings!

Don’t regret getting them done at all by the way!!

    Good advice, Bambi

as Bambi said get ears pierced by professional
i got mine done at tattoo /body piercing shop.
he spent more time sterilizing and preparing before piercing my ears.
Also , at work , when i got asked, “why both ears”, i replied, wasnt sure which way to go so got both done…
i drive a truck for a national tpt co, and wear 13 x 3 ml silver earings at work.
    no one worries about them.

I got mine pierced at a earring place in Hornsby using a gun. From what I am told the gun itself does not need to be sterile and the part that actually pierces your ear is the stud itself. This comes out of a sterile package.

Mine have been done for a bit over 12 months. I had no problems but the 6 week heeling period, some people will be more or less time depending on the person. Myself I have absolutely no problem with any earring in my right ear. But a few earrings, even now, particularly heavy ones will hurt just a little in my left ear after 5 or 6 hours, I don’t know why?

Hi all,I agree with Bambi,if you want your ears pierced, get them done somewhere that specialises in body piercing,I have 3 earrings in both ears, the first 2 were done by a place that does body piercing, and I had no problems with them, the last ones were done at a hairdresser’s that does piercing and I ended up having a lot of trouble with them becoming inflamed and taking longer than usual to heal.there are plenty of places out there now that do body piercing,so it shouldnt be hard to find somewhere close to where you live.as for worrying about what people think,a lot of guys have both ears done nowadays, and nobody takes much notice of it,so it shouldn’t be that much of a problem for you.

I totally agree . get it done. I was squeemish about getting it done and a friend took me to the local TAFE and had it done there.
You can replace the studs with plastic INSERT IGNOREs after a week or so (I paid $18 for a pack of 8 ) and wear them during the day. and they are just about invisible.
Most people don’t notice or care and its always easy to come with an excuse for both ears.
“” It cost the same for 2 ears as 1, so bugger them I was going to get value for money” or such like

There is no comparision with clip ons, you’ll wonder why you never did it before, when dressed it feels much more feminine and the range of ear rings is so much greater

It’s worth doing. I did it 5 years ago, the last 2 years I’ve worn largish sleepers continually. I work in a legal firm and so far no-ones said anything at all.

If wearing them at works a problem best getting it done just before going on a decent holiday for a few weeks or so. They’ll heal and you won’t need to wear rings during the day…the clear plastic studs are ok for work too.

    Hi Girls,

Interesting stories and opinions on having both ears pieced. I’d love to but I have to admit here and now in the forum I’m chicken !

And it’s not just the piecing part but the after events !

BUT having been there done that with 50 I am getting more bolder so I guess we’ll see !

    I’ll keep you all posted.

    Cheers,
    Melanie

I had my one ear done at the same time as my daughter had both of hers done. Hers were done with a gun, with the studs themselves being used to pierce the ear. Mine was done by something that punched a hole in the lobe, and I then had a bar and ball arrangement for a stud until it healed properly.

I’m not sure why different methods were used.
