Girl meets Boy
Hi All; I would like to draw your collective attention to a couple of very different but equally engaging movies with transgender themes I have watched recently. “Tangerine” (ITunes) and “Boy meets Girl” (Netflix). What distinguishes them both is that transgnder roles are actually played by transgender actors ! Tangerine is very confronting, but “Boy meets Girl” is a really sweet movie and even more surprising (and positive) is that it features a brief full frontal of the transgender character (she’s on hormones but has not had an orchiectomy) when she confronts her erstwhile lover with the reality of her physical appearance. It’s a very moving and is presented positively.
