From the internet, some tips for a quickie:

    1. Get Stained
Intimidated by deep lip colors? For a more subtle statement, apply three coats of lipstick (like Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick in Romantic, $30; chanel.com), then blot it with a tissue to lighten the texture.

    2. Darken Your Arches
Take a cue from Scarlett Johansson and frame your face with strong brows. Accentuate their color and texture with brown mascara (like Paula Dorf mascara in Chocolate, $20; pauladorf.com): Sweep upward and then in the direction of your temples.

    3. Dress Up Your Pony
With a ribbon fastened at the base (M&J Trimming grosgrain ribbon, $2/yard; mjtrim.com), take any tail from ho-hum to high fashion. We were inspired by the look at a recent Givenchy show.

    4. Add Volume Strategically
Using a fine-tooth comb (J and D Pastel tail comb, $1; sallybeauty.com), tease sides to make a long face appear fuller, or increase the height at the crown to slim a round face.

    5. Fake Flawless Skin
A light dusting of translucent powder (like Cover Girl Professional loose powder in Translucent Medium, $5; drugstore.com) before your foundation helps to hide pores and fine lines for a smoother-looking canvas.

The only additional comments I would make are

    1. For brows, you can thin them out and shape them a little without losing the look you wear when not glammed up.

    2. If your hair is not long enough for a pony, you can always add a clip or hair band in a different colour or with a decorative feature to your hair to add a bit of contrast. Alternatively, you can just clip parts up or back for a different look.

    3. If you can’t tease your hair, you can go for hair shape that enhances your face shape – e.g. shorter and thicker sides for longer faces.

    4. A very light eye liner can give eyes a little depth without giving you a fully made up look that may be too harsh for a day time look.

I hope these tips (practise makes perfect!) have been helpful in saving you time when you need to dash out the door, and thanks to InStyle:
