New application process switched on and donation now $10
It has taken a long while to re-write the last part of TgR but at last the old application screens have been scrapped and replaced with something that matches the rest of the site….
And what better way to celebrate – than to put up the membership fee.
Well actually the need to charge a bit more has been brewing for some time – but it seemed inappropriate to up the donation for the old joining experience.So from today we ask for a one-off donation of $10 to join TR.
Why the price hike?
1. TR has had a $5 tag for over 8 years. The idea is that requesting money helps sort out the true trans girls from hangers-on. And if someone genuinely can’t afford the money then we give them a free entry. BUT over the years the value of $5 has dropped and with that we get a lot more people prepared to gamble the $5 in the hope they get let in.
2. At the moment it is more expensive to make a credit card donation than a cash one – but the cash involves far more work. By raising the donation it becomes viable to absorb all the credit card/pay pal fees and so charge the girl the same irrespective of how they pay.
3. Finally, as TR grows and grows the work and costs in running the site keep going up – but the number of new members each month generating income rises at a slower rate. A rise in the donation is needed to recover costs better and build up a bit of a buffer.
As the “cash in the envelope” donation has to be simple the obvious answer was to increase the donation from $5 to $10.
