No need for divorce to record change of gender in NSW
I haven’t seen anything in the media so I suspect Premier Gladys is trying to avoid controversy but effective 18 June 2018 Births Deaths and Marriages NSW no longer requires married applicants who want to record a change of gender to first get a divorce. This applies for changes to a NSW birth certificate or applicants for a Recognised Details Certificate (for people who were born overseas). Another step forward. Thank you everyone who fought for marriage equality which opened the door for this logical follow-on.
