  Passing: Extreme outcome

  Hi All

  I saw this article on news.com.au a couple of days ago and wondered whether I should share it or not. It’s a tad disturbing. And confronting. Here goes in any event. It graphically illustrates the results of an unfortunate transgender lady who was so desperate to pass that she chose a cheap solution to change her facial features. Two issues here. The first was the enormous pressure she felt to be passable in appearance, and the second was the willingness of some low life amateur to exploit that need. Challenging images of the results are embedded in the narrative. Be warned. A rare and extreme case by any measure. The only positive in all this has been the willingness of decent surgeons to try and help the poor woman. Regards Marian

  I guess I should add that this girl is being further exploited to a degree by the reality show practitioners. Their good intentions or otherwise a matter of opinion.
