Princess Boy
I’m not too sure if this the correct place for this post. Yesterday, a story came up on the internet of ‘Princess Boy.’ Princess boy is a 5 year old boy who loves wearing girly things, very girly things and playing with girly toys. Both mum and dad allow this dressing, in fact encourage it. Perhaps more of a ‘don’t discourage the dressing.’ Our boy attends school in dresses, tutu’s, nail polish etc.
Mum has authored and published a book on the matter. In mum’s mind it was a case allowing the child to express himself as himself without self-incrimination or guilt. Comments were encouraged and at the time there were 77 comments. Every comment except one was positive. All thought the parents were doing what every parent ought to be doing, allowing self-expression in dress and presentation. Most criticised the dichotomy of gender dressing and considered the concept old and without foundation. Quote: Men wore dresses and skirts in days gone by to expedite freedom of movement. Women wore dresses and skirts for ease of urination and the birthing process. Try telling a Scot wearing a kilt or a menber of the Greek Guard they are wearing skirts and are fairies. You wouldn’t get up from the ground in a hurry.
What struck me was the encouragement and agreement of the readers posting comments. The one negative comment was generally howled down as being written by a homophobic, misogynistic male.
Perhaps we are witnessing, albeit slowly, a change in attitudes by the public. And maybe, just maybe our boy is a potential TR member. Get his ten dollars quickly!
