Skirts… How long/short ?
Posted by Anonymous on 06/09/2009 at 2:59 amHi
Being nearer 60 than 21, how short should a short skirt be?
On the knee, above the knee, 10cm above the knee or stop short of showing knickers?Im 5’10”, 93k, sz16 tops, sz14 skirts
Or is it a case of “feel good” in what you wear and go for it.

Guest06/09/2009 at 4:10 amWell that depends on the person. What would you like, get away with etc
How good do your legs look? LOL
For me, a skirt just above the knee. Freedom, cool in summer, easy comfortable clothing. A little design. Some skirts look like a old bag so I go for ‘A’ line
If you like stares and showwomansship at any age, stop just before the knickers. I have some daring ones. Maybe when I get to the ideal weight. I will see what I look like then.
Conservative. Go long. I have one. I feel clumbsy and my SO told me I look old in a long skirt. Just not me
Legs not to good? Skin tone pantyhose and short skirt at the knee

Guest06/09/2009 at 5:45 amSally,
I wear knee length most of the time. In winter a little longer to go with tights and boots. However, what you feel more confortable will work

Ihave always liked just above or below the knee although around the house on warm days a mini Thai wrap around is quite nice.
I think at my age, too short is not a good look.

Guest06/09/2009 at 10:30 amFortunately for me, in recent years i’ve been able to wear any length skirt to suit the occassion – from a mini through to knee length (I don’t own any below the knee skirts!).
However, being a middle aged girl and realistic enough to accept that my “looks” and “figure” won’t last too much longer into the future, I am mindful that I should begin to dress in a manner that reflects my age where appropriate.
Fortunately for me, when i’m in femme mode, I lose ten years off my real age, so I can still pull off a younger look for the time being!!!
What it comes down to is, if I still look ok in a particular length skirt, i’ll continue to wear it.
CLARE.

Guest07/09/2009 at 4:10 amAs short as possible!
For me, being a crossdresser is all about wearing a skirt…so put me in a nice little mini skirt, and some knee high boots…and it’s all happening…

I’m 40 years old, 6’1″, 75kg, size 16 (L) tops and T’s. I’m a size 10/12 (S/M) in Skirts and Jeans.
Yesterday I returned from a shopping spree at Harbour Town factory outlet store (Gold Coast) and a friend decided to play with my camera whilst I was messing around. The photo is however, what I wore to Harbour Town:
As and aside and something I’m really chuffed with; whilst at Harbour Town I had some 30 year old guy beg me for my phone number, and the GGs in the “Emily the Strange” outlet store tell me that they didn’t know I was transgender until the person I was with mentioned it… Go Figure!
A couple of days prior to my 40th I attended a friends wedding and gave a reading as part of the service, this is how I dressed for the that part of the day:
After the wedding I went out clubbing in this out fit (photo taken a week prior in a controlled environment):
and last week:
Here’s something from a party I went to when I was in the UK it’s the sortest skirt I have that I would (and have) worn out publicly:
The other time I wore that skirt was in Malta where I used it to cover the bottom part of my bikini when I walked back to my hotel after diving. So there are 4 different skirt lengths, 5 different days, 5 different places and situations, all public (of course I am “full time” which makes a difference to some)… So what am I saying..? Well, as Clare said… length of skirt really doesn’t matter…. How you wear it, and where you wear it is what matters. Choose something that matches your figure the event you are attending. You should also take into account the age others perceive you to be. My ex-wife had a go at me the first time she saw my shortest skirt (it was longer than the one in the top photo), she said, “You’re nearly f**kin’ 40, you can’t dress like that!” Melissa (my Ex) and I are similar ages and many people commented to us that we both looked 27-30 (I still get those comments) so we both dressed to the age people view us to be not our actual ages. People give me complements every day…
Last comment, wear something you are comfortable in, because what is the point of putting on anything if you’re not comfortable wearing it?!?!
Take care,
Shells

Guest08/09/2009 at 8:40 amI really think it depends on where youi are and what your doing
Like if going out and trying to look passable perhaps a really short skirt isnt the way to go .If dressed at home or for a private function ( like at the Taxi )I feel the higher the hem the better. I think its about what you feel comfortable in .Like if you feel comfortable in public in a micro mini then go for it … but I suppose be prepared for a certain amount of extra attention

Guest11/09/2009 at 11:23 amPersonally, I prefer mid/longer length skirts – in part because of a slight touch of “thunder thighs” these days (yep – broken 50yo now !) but mostly I love the feel of a longer skirt. But, if you are up to it physically and you are comfortable with it, it doesn’t matter what skirt length and at what age. I read something in a mag the other day that said once you pass 45, your skirt length should always be on or below the knee. For what its worth – I disagree, but I really do envy you girls who can wear short skirts !

Guest14/09/2009 at 5:11 amWell,
I do like really short skirts but I feel that they can look tacky if the top panel of the pantyhose shows or you can see the tops of stayup stockings under the skirt .Yes of course if you bend the wrong way these will show … but I feel I must take care not to show such .I also feel in contrast that panties showing under “uniform” pantyhose -ie pantyhose that doesnt have a top darker section is acceptable and its up to the girl to either ensure they dont show or show them discreetly .Also a suspender belt and stockings I feel need a longer skirt/ dress to hide them and again I feel a girl must be discreet in bending over … unless she really wants to tease ! However, I must be from th old school of think i saying a girl who exposes such too often is lacking a bit of “class ” or is this the wrong term to use ?

Well I guess I’m torn between the extremes. I like the feel of long dresses and think the latest maxi dresses look loverly and femine. I particularily like the way they flow around your legs and ankles.
On the other hand, there are times when I like the tarty look of a nice trim mini. , however I am getting a little long in the tooth for that scenario now.
Then of course there is always the nice tight pencil skirts that could be worn around an office.
Oh! Just give me a skirt, any skirt, any day.
Hugs to all

Guest14/09/2009 at 11:53 pmI definitely still prefer minis. My most flattering feature has always been my legs. Some of my female friends have told me that I was born with women’s legs and that they are jealous of them.
This is even more so the case nowadays as I have “filled out” around the waist.
The biggest problem I had when I first started wearing minis was how to sit down in them without them riding up and showing my knickers. I found it to be quite a knacl to keep them down in order to retain some dignity. -

I am with you all the way on that view, but still keep it just low enough to keep some secrets. 😆

I think its all matter of what looks good on you and how comfortable you are on wearing it.Its all about looking good,i love my legs so i love a nice denim mini, tho at the same time i love the feel of a nice long skirt flowing around your ankles.I think as long as you feel good in it thats all that matters.
