This program features more on the plight of gender diverse people in Thailand and dismisses the myth that many foreigners seem to think that the gender diverse in Thailand are widely accepted – which is not the case. They struggle to get jobs and have no legal recognition of their status even after surgery.
This slightly ‘dated’ documentary on Thai “ladyboys” or kathoeys was broadcast on Channel News Asia at 7:30 pm on Sunday, 5 Sep 09 as part of the “Almost famous” series. Unfortunately, the first 5 minutes are missing, and the narrator has some difficulty with pronouns.
