From: Amanda Sorry about the delay in getting to your email
I had a long weekend away from the internet – and now have the
    email backlog to prove it!
As you say the website is waiting for girlsname@y7mail.com to validate
    the email.
You say you clicked on validation link and nothing happened.
Did you cut & paste it into your browser as the instructions
    also suggest..
Sometimes the email client doesn’t recognise the link is a link.
If that doesn’t work please tell me exactly what you tried and
    exactly what happened.
    Cheers
    Amanda

    Brenda,
    As i wrote
“If that doesn’t work please tell me exactly what you tried and
    exactly what happened.”
You must understand that helping people if the only information
you have is that “it did not work” is in miracle worker territory.
The more you tell me in detail the more I can probably help.
    Write me a novel please!

    One last try

    You say “still nothing”
Understand you have to tell me EXACTLY (in your own words) what
you did and EXACTLY what you mean by nothing… otherwise I just give
    up….

What do you mean by no response.
What did the browser say after you cut and pasted the link into it
    AND
told it to go to that link address.
    Browsers ALWAYS say something …

If “unable to recognize server” appears in the browser window (that I
think is what you are saying)
    then what else is displayed.
Do you just get those 4 words or is there some identification of who is
    sending the message?

We could be getting warmer !

hi well this a bit of a drama. all it says is unable to
recognize server i went to another site singed up clicked on
validation link and it worked fine.one thing i did notice was the word
validation was highlited on this site? as to your site its not. hope
    this imformation helps brenda

Can I just clarify one thing.
You cut the link out of the email.
Then pasted it into the URL entry of a browser like internet explorer?
It is just you wrote “pasted it into the address box”. And the symptoms
sound like you are using an email client not a browser.

If the link is highlighted then the mail reader knows to send it to
internet explorer as a URL and open the web page.
But for some reason the validation emails don’t show as link on all
    email clients.

But to explain – you are trying to open a web page with the link not
    send an email.

    Cheers
    Amanda

    Brenda,

Sadly the only way forward is for you to actually read what I write.
I can find no evidence that you have actually stopped to read what I have
    written so far.
If you don’t understand what I say question till you do
Then give the answers that show you are responding to me.

    I feel I’m just talking to a brick wall…
look at all the question marks in my last email
Where did you provide any answers?
If I ask a question it is because I actually want an answer – not more
assertions that you have tried everything and nothing happens.

The web site is not broken – the problem is with what you are doing.
But I can’t waste time finding out what your problem is if you repeatedly
provide me with absolutely no information to work on.
I am not psychic and rapidly loosing patience.

    So READ, UNDERSTAND/QUESTION, REPLY
Otherwise I have nothing else to add.

    Amanda

Amanda, you have the patience of Job. Some people simply cannot be helped.

    Keep up the great work.

Amanda> I am amazed you put so much time and effort – I doubt I would be so patient and would probably end up wringing someone’s neck. I found that many T-Girls are computer very very not savvy. Thanks for sharing what goes on in the background.

    Hi Amanda,

I know what it feels like. I have to deal with customers on the phone regularly that seem to be related with Brenda. I can get very frustrating.

    I can really empathise, Amanda.

No matter what type of work you do, sooner or later you’ll have to deal with people like that.

No, it’d have to be 1900-TRANNY. The caller has to pay… :)

Wot, you mean to say email and intanet are difrant fings???? WOW thats amazing 😆 But seriously, not all of us are experienced IT gurus and sometimes they can be very frustrating!!! But I do sympathise with you Amanda. It sometimes seems so straight forward when you are explaining something to someone, but complete gibberish to the other person!!! Aaaahhh comunication is such a wonderful thing!!!!

Reminds me of the days I use to spend 20 hours day on the phone, and logged into the net at my desk seven days a week providing customer support from my home for 25 cents an hour (and $2 million in bad debtors)

Strangely I was supporting the Internet Service Providers – no surprise when I changed my career path so many vanished into nothing within a few months.

Still, when you get call saying the person cut the 5.25′ floppy to fit the 3.5′ floppy drive you know you are in for serious support issues. True Story.

Keep smiling Amanda, I remember having troubles getting on board and how patient you were with me but (with all due respect) this makes my effort look like a walk in the park. Goog on ya Girl; See you at Steppin Out,

I did my time on a support desk. It was like hell ….. they get soo angry they dont do what you tell them lol

One customer whom I was telling to press the F1 key was getting really cross at me shouting at me …. then I asked him where the F1 key was located ….. he said well the F is in the middle of the keyboard and the 1 key was on the number pad.

And by the way a backup is not a photocopy of the disks.

Well some people you just cant help.

Thankfully I can say that this “saga” does not refer to me.

(thank goodness, I doubt I could be SO D*** stupid as this girl) 🙄

I applaud Amanda for putting in the disclaimer at the start.

Wow! Top marks to you Amanda! To tell you the truth I know it wasn’t me because I can’t even cut and paste, not complaining as I don’t have a need to. Thing is, even I managed to still join up!

From the computer dummy [me!], bye for now, Peta.

Amanda, I must say how lucky we are here to have you as our ‘Webmistress.’

But I must confess to you something. When we are in public, I always refer to you as our ” Mistress “.

It is great to watch peoples expressions, and then seeing them later, slowly approach you .

    lol
