“Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together.”
Verse 30 also offers some sage advice about keeping out of your parents’ wardrobe, in case you find that your Dad is a crossdresser, too:
“A man shall not take his father’s wife, nor discover his father’s skirt.”
Don’t ya just love the Old Testament… it is so quaint!

I used to think that if I was born like this then how could god put that in the bible? but I realise now I wasnt ever a man, so this doesnt apply! just gotta keep my head covered and not lie before beasts, and obey my husband, and I’ll be fine

Or is this translation a more modern version and a little creative licence was allowed to be applied?

Guest07/12/2007 at 12:41 amAfter going to a boarding school which caned me for not going to church, allowed the older boys to beat us daily, and then the bible telling us this, Hell sound nice.
It is better to life been true to your self, without lie, honour others, most of these religion based people cant even do that.
No wonder I hate Religion.

I mean our western culture complains about the Muslim religion being harsh on women, and often men from those societies “dominating and controlling the women” but it seems that the Christian faith has it the other way around.
Men aren’t allowed to wear skirts, only pants and shirts and it’s OK for women to look sexy or dress in shirts and pants.
Maybe all the genetic women will go to hell too!

Apart from being halarious, the fact that it was an issue important enough to he added to the bibble is sensational and fascinating. Although crossdressing has been in most cultures accross the ages anyway.

Guest20/12/2007 at 11:15 amhi …. welll some of you have seen some thing that appers to be in the bible .well this is not the case the veres that is used has nothing to do with us at all .the translation it does not have any thing to do with cd s & ts or any body other than what it was dealing with then . not now . or what we see now . it had to do with the war that was going on then ….if a women was found in male war clothes she would have been killed ….note child bearing women ….. then for the males they were told not to wear female clothes because they were wearing war clothes as per fighting men so there you have it . it has not been translated as it should have been so remember it was some time ago. not any thing to do with us …..deuteronomy 22 v 5 if taken out of context can be made to mean what ever people want it to . so be carefull some of these people will use to day what they perceve in there minds to use against us. & i know them very well. this is just a small part of all the detail that there is …noeleena….

Just a bit on the lighter side of things;
I have a profile on a site that I have my gender as female (as there is only male/female) I then explain that I am a TGirl and for those that dont understand the term a link. I then suggest they read the link before contacting me. I then explain that I dont want a relationship or marrage and I am only looking for friends.
Most men dont read it at all and just rely to the photo and I still get 3-5 contacts a day wanting to have a relationship and some want to marry me. (must be bad overseas to be asking a stranger over the net.)
So I received an email saying :you are best example of God true creation.
It then goes on to explain gods love etc.
My simple rely was : And if God loved me then he would not have had me born a male.
Well I think I had a very shocked man from Nigeria asking if I was a male.
Well for a what it was worth I replyed that he should read profiles before contacting the writers.
I just smiled and took it as a sign that the photo must be good enough for them not to read any further. lol
Well happy Xmas to all and have a safe new years.

The bible is a manipulated piece of propaganda aimed at mass control of society, throughout the last two millenia, continuously edited and amended by those publishing it to put forward their OWN interpretation of the SUPPOSED word of god, written by men.
It is a book with little relevance to todays society as the message it was supposed to contain has been perverted in a grasp for power, both political and monetary.
It is published by the same group that declared all forms of gender-variant people to be ‘anathema’, ie cursed, damned, greatly reviled, loathed, shunned, excommunicated. The Xtian church declared a war upon us that to this day still continues, whether they will own up to it or not. 1600 years ago they destroyed our homes, our places of worship, denounced our gods and goddesses, and tried to wipe gender-variant people off the face of the earth.
They failed.
They always will.
We are a strong people, and we will never give up our right to expression of self.
Screw the xtian religions, screw their propaganda, lets LIVE!

I also have about 00+ people on my MSN and when a window pops up asking if I wanna suck their noodle int he first line, I know its’ a guy.Most don’t know I’m TG. I can’t bebotehred telling them, I’ll never meet ay of them anyway, ikky sleaze old guys with wives in loveless marraiges.
Oh and I ALWAYS wear my wedding ring! But in public that seems to make little difference these days.

Having had a theological education, I shall add what I can to this discussion forum. Those of a more fundamental persuasion would maintain that the prohibition on crossdressing in Deuteronomy was written by Moses in response to the inspiration of God. Therefore the condemnation stands as a universal one for all time. For those of a more liberal disposition, the Book of Deuteronomy is a “pious fraud†written and “discovered†in the temple in Jerusalem in the reign of Josiah some 500 years after Moses. It was used as the basis for a major religious reform which saw the temple purged of fertility cult elements. These included the sacred male prostitutes, who may have dressed as women, as crossdressing priests were a traditional part of fertility cults. So we could argue that the prohibition had a specific application, not a universal one.
Angry atheists have created a cottage industry out off citing passages from the Old Testament which offend 21st century Western moral sensibilities. So can we add crossdressing to the list along with stoning women caught in adultery, killing homosexuals and sending your wife to the priest for purification after her period?
Unfortunately the universal nature of the prohibition has been used as part of the cultural domination of the masculine over the feminine. That this dominance is still a significant issue in the Christian faith can be seen at work in the modern church in relation to the ordination of women. As a male Christian passing as a woman, I am threatening the prescribed order of things. However I do not have horrific visions of standing before the judgment seat of the Lord of Hosts in bra and suspenders. I think the last judgement is one we make on ourselves. I have forgiven myself for all the ratty things I’ve done.
One advantage of a good theological education is that it can make you a gentle and cheerful atheist. While I have no belief in God, I find it helpful to suspend disbelief and enjoy the spiritual benefits of a good choral eucharist. Confession, absolution and communion are excellent for putting out the spiritual garbage each week and starting with a fresh bin to fill up. So, while I have the same issues as all the other sisters in relation to the social acceptability of my transgendered life, what the Bible has to say on the matter doesn’t worry me.

Guest06/03/2008 at 9:40 amI’m always surprised and disappointed by the reverence shown towards the bible – both testaments are anthologies, containing factual errors, stories of ridiculous feats and conflicting timelines etc. One book may condemn crossdressing but what about the books they left out…shoot the editor I say. Considering the bible approved of genocide, an eye for an eye, torture and god knows what else…the condemning of crossdressing by people already wearing robes just seems silly.
Its been decades since i put on my first dress and so far nothing bad has happened….i’m tempted to get all dressed up one Sunday and go to Hillsong, just to see if I come out alive.
PS – We’re also condemned in the Koran…I wonder if The Prophet had the same editor?
