What music do you listen to..
Posted by Anonymous on 18/07/2006 at 4:59 amI believe the music you listen to has alot to say about who you are as a person. Just as much as say from what you read, or other things you do in your spare time.
At the moment im listening to The Sundays second album Blind.Anonymous replied 11 years, 7 months ago 3 Members · 83 Replies -

Guest18/07/2006 at 11:43 amWell currently I have The Cruxshadows playing but intend to listen to a bit of Apoptygma Berzerk to lull me off to sleep tonight.
I have just recently been able to borrow a DJ friend’s old cd library so I am currently discovering a lot of bands that I never knew existed before but have heard their music being played at various clubs. Too many good bands to list here, might update a little later in the week after I have managed to get through the first 10% of the cd’s!
Oh BTW just in case anyone is interested The Cruxshadows will be touring Australia in September/October. Dates and venues yet to be confirmed. I will be going to the Perth gig so if anyone is interested in joining me they are more than welcome!

What a strange topic!
OK, the music I listen to is multifacetted and various, depending on my mood it may be heavy rock, country (a recent survey in the USA classifies it suicide music), romantic, easy listening, classics, neo-classics , ’60’s -70’s -early ’80’s.Beatles have become blase, Elvis never did anything for me, and Kasey Kasems did a lot for music in American top 40
Have I left anyone behind yet?
As I said, it depends on my mood as to what I listen to. 🙄

Guest19/07/2006 at 3:08 pmI had a disagreement the other day with a guy who listens to music on his computer.
He told me he listens to music on his computer on shuffle so basically the computer decides what he listens to at any given time. I made a point about music having an effect on your moods, emotions and how letting the computer decide what you listen to is like letting it decide on what mood you are in. Of course he got defensive and denied it by saying that he likes all the music he has on his computer and that I have control issues.
Whenever I choose a CD to listen to I always consider how I feel at the time and how the album will make me feel after listening to it, I dont think this warrants control issues.
Of course this method can leave me standing in front of my 1500+ CD rack for quite awhile wondering what to listen to though. .but its worth it. -

Guest21/07/2006 at 2:18 amSome reason, I listen to a lot of music that relates to myself ..
anything soft really, ballade kind of music, it relaxes me, and sooths me
Some of the more up beat stuff im listening too, and have done for many years is robbie williams, I find his music very meaningful, and I think he is a great entertainer …
AND im going to QLD to Perth to see him in Decemeber!!!!! Anyone else from here going? ….
The reason im going to Perth is because I did not like the Brisbane venue ..
But Yes! I will be in Perth from about the 27th Nov, to 3rd of December!

Guest22/07/2006 at 5:38 amLuckily rap is the kind of music one could grow out of!
Is Incubus Suckubus the band that had to change the spelling of their name recently?

Quote:I believe the music you listen to has alot to say about who you are as a person.
In male mode, I tend to listen to Beatles, ELO, Queen, etc..
My favourite music for while I’m transforming myself is Bananarama!

Guest23/07/2006 at 7:56 amIrregardless of femme or drab self my music is quite eclectic. I will listen to anything from Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky, through The Four Tops and Gladys Knight, to Rammstein and System of a Down, however, I do draw the line at rap and country.
Country depresses me and Rap just sends me insane (same tune different words). As a musician myself I can understand the hard work put into compiling a song, album, live gig, but to sample or just plain do it via computer seems lazy and uninspiring to me. Yet, by a similar token, Papantheous Vangelis and Jean Michael Jarre are electronic music geniuses. Strange huh?
Sorry went a bit off subject there…..
….. For a lovely relaxing evening I enjoy listening to Neil Diamond, Matchbox Twenty, Tim Wheater and Enya. If I’m in a house cleaning mood I generally play Jethro Tull or the Who. Other than that I just go with what feels right at the time.
Hugs.

Guest24/07/2006 at 12:08 amInkubus Sukkubus ( correct spelling this time ) Headlined in London on the 9/4/06. So unless the change was very recent I dont think so
I didn’t mean to give the impression that I’m a one band girl. Looking at my CD rack alone I see medieval, lots of Goth, lots of rock and even some classical. As with a lot of the girls here I have ecletic ( i think thats right ) tastes. -

Guest24/07/2006 at 6:47 amYep they used to be called Incubus Succubus until 1995 they changed their name on the advice of a friend who said that the numerology of their first name was bringing them bad luck.
I remember reading that when I was reading about numerology a few months back. -

Guest24/07/2006 at 2:55 pmListening to their music I can well believe the reason for the name change. I didn’t start to get into them until 98. And I still have to find 4 of their albums

Guest24/07/2006 at 9:20 pmI listen to just about anything except country and opera. Likes include Van Morrison, Janis Joplin (Pearl has to be my most played album), U2, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton don’t mind classical, heavy rock, pop…… It depends on what i feel like at the time. Bottom line is I have to have music playing.
