Hi Jessica, It would be great if you continued your updates of the IPL’s effectiveness. It would be useful to know the effects more long term!

As of last Wednesday, my weekly treatment day, the results on my face seem to have slowed. I’m not sure if it’s I’m getting impatient or just part of the process. Hairs seem to be thinning out. Underarm has had best results as for my legs arms and boy progress is good. I think I’m now 6 weeks into the suggested 12 week treatment. I think it will take more than 12 weeks in my case. Upper lip is frustrating as it’s thinned out so I notice looking in the mirror however a little disappointed with this. Maybe I had more hairs on my lip by week 12 I’ll have a more accurate outcome. They say 12 weeks so I assume 16

Hi Jessica, Are you by any chance using hormones as well as IPL? My hair removal campaign started with whole of body laser “to give the hormones a kick start”. Arms, legs and body have greatly reduced hair but armpits, face and neck are very resistant. I’m now into heavy duty use of electrolysis on my face. I put the long-term reduced body hair down the hormones.

Hi Carol. Yes I’ve been in hormones for 10 years. I will require electrolysis for Greys at some stage. I having purchased this machine plan to be a guinea pig for others. I purchased the Smoothskin for men and it advises that the purchaser use it weekly for 12 weeks and then maintenance. It doesn’t claim to fully stop hair growth, I was able to purchase as I inherited a small amount. My body hair growth greatly reduced over the last 10 years. I’ve effectively used the Smoothskin on the back of my hands, my underarms, legs and arms. Even if I have to pay for electrolysis on my face later or Laser not ipl but laser that is more expensive than ipl yet said to be more effective for me it’s worth it. To pay for IPL on your body or electrolysis costs a fortune. I will keep you informed. If I’m still using weekly or monthly after 12 weeks. IPL works differently on different people 12 weeks is likely an average for Smoothskin. I’m working on 16 weeks maybe 20 at weekly.

Week 7.. (I think lost track..) Just showered, shaved and used the IPL….Last week I was slightly disappointed as it seemed a week of little progress.. Tonight.. I looked in the mirror could see good progress. Lip has thinned and can see places with no hair easier… Chin not much left. Beneath my bottom lip… progress showing… Arms legs body… just picking up strays..Underarms..Doesn’t seem to be any growth… I will treat weekly for another 5 weeks then fortnightly.. I plan treating my face weekly for 16 weeks regardless.. If after 12 weeks all seems gone ill hope to mop up strays…. The smooth skin I purchased is still on sale for $669 at the Shaver Shop

Update… Sorry I have not updated for a few weeks.. I think I am now at week 10.. Two weeks ago I chose not to shave for 4 days.. It allowed me to get a feel for progress.. I was pleased to see bare patches on my upper lip and beard area.. Sadly I am noticing many greys.. Although the booklet says hairs may lighten and thin out.. I estimate about 80% reduction in facial hair.. Underarms I just now do fortnightly with body.. If someone has no Grey hairs or just starting to grey I would recommend this product or something like it.. I would suggest one that is labelled for male use.. I would add. Do not expect instant results..If it says 12 weeks to stop growth allow16- to 20 as response varies.. I will not be at the stage of monthly maintenance after 12 weeks.. It may require another 4 to 8 weeks.Shaver shop always seems to have IPL machines onsale.. If you do buy one.. please let us know what brand and how it works for you so other girls may decide if they wish to purchase one

Update.. So week 11.. I have around 5% hair left on my lip.. Across the rest of my face less than 5%….Maybe I will have stopped growth in less than the 16 weeks I predicted…I found after 6 weeks it felt for a couple of weeks nothing was happening.. Anyone who purchases an IPL machine must be patient.. I did on the odd week use the IPL twice in a week. I do not know if it made any difference… This product has saved me thousands of Dollars. I no longer have hair growing under my armpits, hair on my body is very little… I think each time I do my legs arms etc. I am just picking up areas I may have missed. I have a small stubborn area on my chin that has seemed like it refuses to go away, however this week it is greatly reduced

I think it is about 14 weeks since I started using Smoothskin.. I have a small area on my chin that is stubbornly staying.. Has got smaller… My lip area still has growth , however thinned out and getting there.. Looking forward to when I can say all gone.. Conclusion.. to date.. smooth skin is working, in my case taking longer than the 12 weeks suggested.. I AM being impatient, treating my face twice per week.. Maybe it helps maybe not.. I still believe these IPL machines are good value compared to paying for regular treatment of $150. plus

16 Weeks have passed since I first used my smoothskin.. I will try and post a picture of my face before I shave today so you can get a feel for how it is going.. Sadly many greys remain on the sides of my face.. My prediction of 16 weeks now looks closer to 24 weeks.. I believe it is working. Just slower than I hoped. I hope the pics help others assess the product..

Oh I have not shaved for two days…

Your welcome April. I will maybe upload pics every few weeks before I shave to use IPL. Look forward to saying only greys left. Sadly. It will not stop
Greys. So if you are not at the Greys stage bonus. I sadly will get electrolysis for any Greys. I thought all underarm gaurs were gone so stopped my IPL. Sadly some still growing so I’ll treat every fortnight. I had read negative reviews of smoothskin and positive. I think the problem is they say after 12 weeks should be gone. Should be varies on person to person. Was hoping I would be sayin only greys now. Sadly more weeks for me. The right of my upper lip suddenly has a big hair free spot. Wears how it’s working on me. I find Shaver shop always has Smoothskin ” on sale ” for $679. I strongly suggest the Men’s version of any IPL unit. If you have a friend you may wish to share the cost and do weekly sessions together. As mentioned in earlier posts the machine has a life of 120,000 Flashes. I hope the unit you buy pleases you. Based on my experience expect 16 to 25 weekly treatments not the 12 they say and you won’t be dis heartened

Hi Jane. The Men’s Smoothskin booklet contradicts as it says it can work. I’m very pleased with how it’s worked . Slower than I’d like but it is working

Hi May I suggest instead of shaving you wax your face, especially as I feel the hairs left will come out easy now.

Great idea. But the booklet says never wax. Reason being waxing pulls the hair out and it’s roots. You need the root system in place as the Laser travels down the hair follicle to the root and kills it, thus resulting in no mor hair growth

I just recieved an email from the Shaver Shop. The Smoothskin that I thought was a bargain for $679 is now further reduced on sale for $499
