As Oscar Wilde said, Melissa, “There is only one thing worse than being talked about and that is not being talked about”.

Melissa I know exactly what you mean…I’ve tried to wrangle this problem on many occasions with varying degrees of success.
What Caroline says is spot on….the only way to do it is by using 2 x wigs. One shortish (you can still use bangs which I’ve found more successful as it frames the face) and the ‘pony tail’ clipped to the first main wig. The critical thing, as Caroline said, is wig colour matching. The only colour I have found to really work is jet black but others may have other ideas?

On behalf of The Magic Circle Club I can advise ladies that we are indeed planning TransActShon 2 for this year.
Obviously we need to be guided by government as to what they will allow us to do and when we are allowed to do it but rest assured your committee is working on all sorts of options and possibilities for this year’s event.
Naturally our first choice would be a full scale weekend as per normal but we will know more when the 90 day lockdown finishes (hopefully) at the end of May. Once we know what the lay of the land is we will advise accordingly I promise you. -
Great work Adrian….I wouldn’t have the patience honey xx

Why thank you Gloria…that’s a lovely thing to say I am quite touched xx

Welcome home Martina
I didn’t manage to make it through Eddie Izzard’s book either for the reasons you describe. I had the same trouble with Stephen Fry’s various autobiographies which are so full of self loathing I gave up on the lot of them.
I am often misled by titles too it must be said. “Moby Dick” was a great disappointment….. -
Hi Liz, what I’ve found when I’ve been stuck on a section is I just go to another one – just because we read books in a linear fashion it doesn’t necessarily follow that you write them that way. If you have a loose framework for your opus this shouldn’t be too difficult to do. Good luck!

Paula wrote: Is everyone writing books? There goes my idea and I do want to avoid being in any memoir written by Emma. It will be hard to work out where fact and fiction collide.
Ha ha what could you possibly be worried about Paula? You are a Paragon of Virtue darling?
Anyway, Crossdressing for Fun and Profit (yes I’ve settled on the title) is not an autobiography. Anything I wrote along those lines would have to be asked for at the booksellers and sheepishly removed from under the counter by an embarrassed shop assistant in a brown paper bag (the book, not the shop assistant).
No my tome is a handbook for the emerging crossdresser. What to do, how to do it, and where to do it, written in my usual style of not taking this, or anything else, too seriously. If you are looking for another The Gender Trap or I Married A Crossdresser this won’t be it but it will be instructional as far as what I’ve learned over decades of transvestism. I’m 4 chapters in – all written in a ‘ready reckoner’ style. No doubt it will be an essential tool for new girls and many of us love an essential tool.

I’ll have a glass of bubbly please ladies….and not the cheap stuff you usually put aside for me Caroline
I’m also writing a book! I’ve had it kicking around in my head for a few years so now while I have the time I’m getting on with it. I’m wrestling with a few titles for it which hopefully the always helpful ladies here might assist with. They are:
Crossdressing For Fun & Profit
My Life As A Strumpet
What Is This Thing Called….Love?
Not A Chance Darling I’m Catholic
Emma Thorne’s Tips For Getting TuckedAnd go……..

Perhaps I should have put my glasses on too Martina? The Pope is right you do go blind.
I can see you and I arm-in-arm walking off, backs to the camera, with you saying “You know Louie...(my middle name is Louise sis did you know that?)….”this could be the start of a beautiful friendship”
-
I’ll be Purdey for you anytime Caroline
Love your list Martina! Casablanca is my favourite film of all time and I’ve watched it many many times..it has everything: Bogart (swoon), Bergman (delicate but with steely determination), Peter Litre (brief role but WHAT impact!), The Blue Parrot, Claude Rains (swoon at as in!), Nazis, Free French, etc etc Fabulous! I shall daydream of being Ilsa once again in that last scene at the airport…..sigh
Liz you are quite right in What you say about Audrey Hepburn however these are individual lists and we all have our favourites…..I couldn’t even squeeze Barbara Carrerra or Phyllis Coates (my first live) in to mine x

Excellent submissions ladies…and me being I cannot help but add some comments:
Caroline – OMG you reminded me of so many screen stars that hadn’t even crossed my mind! Rita Hayworth was a Goddess…breathtakingly beautiful…and Greer Garson!! Maureen O’Hara in “She Wore A Yellow Ribbon” and one of my favourite films “The Quiet Man”. Oh and here’s a fun fact: a really good friend of mine is a bestie of Joanna Lumley! She’s hugged her (often) and I’ve hugged her (often)! So hug me and you’re one degree away from hugging JoannaJust a thought…
And Paula you clearly love the art house scene as I do….Charlotte Rampling OMG! Have you seen “Zardoz”? I hope you have because I sometimes think I’m the only person on earth who has seen it and it is fabulous xx -
All power to you dear Caroline – you are a credit to The Sisterhood xx
