Guest27/08/2008 at 4:08 amHi girls,
Second name, Hmm took me ages to come up with my first name ! Started with Karen matching my “male name”, no I’m not telling !
Went with Melanie after that to save confusion after my passion for music – Melanie Stafka was singer/song writer and was at Woodstock in 1969 (so I’m told !) Was one of the original hippies !
Hey Vampirella love your reply – do we have to bow when we meet you ? The Baroness Vampirella, that has a ring to it !
Cheers,
Melanie -

Guest28/08/2008 at 12:59 pmHi Penny and everyone, been a long time since I posted.
Anyway I picked Melody as I am a musician and the name felt right for me (makes me feel like a living song! 😳 ).
My second name Farrell was already there in my head as part of my name so I was never just Melody, I was and am Melody Farrell right from the start.
No middle name for me, Melody I am and will always be! 😆
i send you all much love and wish you peace, joy and fulfillment in your lives.
Mel :flower:
PS: what is your second name Penny?

Guest30/08/2008 at 9:18 amHi Melody,
It may just fate as to the way you choose your name, while Looking around MySpace Music, I came across another Melody Farrell, she is a 19 yr old Musician from the UK, here is a link to her page http://www.myspace.com/melodyfarrell.
Regarding Finding a Name, I always Liked Sharon and Samantha, and for a little while back in primary school I was calling myself Samantha but didn’t like the shortened version, Sam, so I started calling myself Sharon and made Samantha my middle name, plus I like the way Sharon Samantha rolls of the tongue, and I have been told that Sharon suits me, as I seam like a Sharon, my surname is my birth surname, and I didn’t want to change it
Hugs Sharon

Guest03/09/2008 at 12:23 amHas one girlfriend said I am one Penny Cheaper, I guess it’s just cost effectiveness. I hope that you don’t think that I’m all cheap. I was just chatting to a girlfriend in the UK she thinks that it could only have one name like “Madonna” I thought about this she is right in one way, but she also picked the name “Doris” yes she will make a Day of its she says.
I was just thinking about the whole name thing, does the name we pick shape us as a person does it decide what we wear also how we behave. Some girls or ladies has selected very exotic names, does is bring out the full female half of themselves.
So can they make you feel more sexy? and change the way you act? -

Guest03/09/2008 at 1:03 amI’ve been Felicity since I was a tot. I did have a few years in the late 60s where I changed it to Felicia because Felicity was more like the name of your maiden aunt. But then along came Felicity Kendall in The Good Life and Felicity was cool again. I never had a surname until Felicity made her comeback two years ago. I tried making one up that had a nice ring to it. Nothing did it for me until one day I was out riding my pushbike (I do this a lot because it keeps my legs looking good and gives me an excuse to wax and also to wear lycra in public) when I passed a little side street called… well it ain’t rocket salad to work that out. I must also confess to getting an extra buzz when GG friends call me Felicity. I think it shows a degree of acceptance and that idea helps keep me sane.

Guest16/01/2009 at 2:48 amFor me, and to start this off, Brenda is my ex-mother-in- law. She’s a beautiful woman and I was always in awe of how she dressed, her persona, deportment, conversation etc.
So, 2 years ago when I accepted my femme side more seriously and permanently, and as a respectful thing to her, I ran with her name. I hope that makes sense…
Regards
Brenda

Guest16/01/2009 at 1:17 pmThis is really ironic for me, I was thinking of this very subject while riding home from work today. How did I get my name? Well I’ve always been attracted to the spelling of Peta since I was young, for some reason I’ve always just simply wished that I had that spelling for my own. So I claimed it and I don’t have to worry either about what people call me, my name still sounds the same, I don’t get confused at all!
Bye….Peta A.

Guest18/01/2009 at 10:08 pmWhen I was a little girl I called myself Felicity but in the late 60s it was a bit “old maiden auntish” so I modernised it by calling myself Felicia. Then along came Felicity Kendall in the Good Life and Felicity was cool again. Felicity starts with the same sound as my boy name but I’m not really sure why I chose it. But I love being happy and feminine…, and the more feminine I am the happier I get!

Hi Brenda
There is a more than a few PHD’s in Behavioural Science Research in this subject. I was asked this question late last year and I was a bit stymed because I could not give an immediate response. Upon reflection,I chose Ruth as a generational name fitting my age-and the Ruths I knew, had personallities that I respected. The South comes from my career, Im one of the last Geologists( I think) who actually use a compass not GPS to Naviigate by polar references to land or by stars. Mars, the male side is North east, and Venus the fem side is for me the Souh Pole-hence the down facing arrow.

Guest20/01/2009 at 4:36 amWhen I first started exploring my gender issues, I was Suzanne for several months. But I couldn’t convince my friends to call me that! They wanted to call me Simone, which is one letter away from my male name. So I have been stuck with it! But that’s OK. I like it now.

Guest26/03/2009 at 5:41 amHi Cynthia
a penny for your thoughts, that’s one way I came up with the name (Penny) it’s just the name I’ve always liked. And my surname (cheaper) was something a made up for my e-mail address.
But if I go and make a Trop-Fest movie (which I’d love to) my production company name will be (A Penny Cheaper Production)
I don’t think I’ll change my name in the near future, but I know that some girls have changed their names. Now there’s a question have you changed your name? And why?Sarah_2 great link to your name, Sarah Jane Smith rocks!

Guest26/03/2009 at 7:58 amQuote:Come on lets here from more Girls how did your get your Femme Name ,i think its an important part of our Persona , there must be more Girls who can tell us .How you got your name .For many years I never felt the need for a femme name because I never went public, didn’t associate with other Trans people and so forth.
It wasn’t until I joined my first online forum in 2005 that I had to have a femme name. On the spur of the moment, I chose Christine which is a common name in my Family.
However I never felt “Christine” was “Me” and over time the name “CLARE” just seemed appear and one day I suddenly realised that I was associating myself with the name.
Even now, I feel like it has been my lifelong name as I just react to it very naturally!
Simple really – I am CLARE and CLARE is me!
CLARE.
